FLASH LIGHTNING
This is a drink that my girlfriends and I came up with last summer for a pool party. A pretty and refreshing drink. I hope you will enjoy, I should tell you that it does pack quite a punch.

Steps:
- You will need a tall glass.
- Rim glass with mango rum and dip in the white sugar, till evenly coated, as much or as little as you like.
- Add ice cubes to glass.
- Add the rum and blue curaco and limeade to glass, stir and add garnish.
- If you find the drink too strong add more limeade.
- Enjoy!

- 1. You will need a tall glass.

HETE BLIKSEM OR HOT LIGHTNING
Apples and potatoes are a wonderful combination. The apples sweetened the potatoes. This is a traditional winter side dish. If you want to be really authentic add slices of blood sausage to the top.

Steps:
- Peel, core and chop green apples.
- Place green apples in a pan with water and simmer 20 minutes.
- Peel, core and chop green red apples and potatoes.
- Add the red apples and the potatoes.
- Cook an additional 30 minutes.
- Drain then mash all together.
- Add butter, salt and cloves.
- Add milk as needed.

THUNDER AND LIGHTNING
This Italian pasta dish is named for its ingredients: fried chickpeas (the thunder) and lots of black pepper (the lightning). It's meatless, but not vegetarian.

Steps:
- Saute garlic and chickpeas in olive oil over high heat until chickpeas begin to pop. Add sage, broth, and pepper. Lower heat and reduce broth by one-fourth.
- Cook pasta al dente and drain. Place in a large bowl and toss with butter. Add chickpeas and broth; toss well. Add salt to taste and 1/4 c Parmesan cheese. If pasta seems too dry, add more broth to taste. Serve with additional Parmesan cheese.
- You can use one 16-oz can of chickpeas and 1 ts dried sage instead of the fresh versions if you like. Orecchiette pasta works the best as the chickpeas snuggle into the hollows perfectly.
