Number Of Ingredients 20

4 Tbsp Butter
3 Tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard
Salt & pepper to taste
1 lbs ground beef
1 lbs ground pork
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp allspice powder
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
2 egg yolks
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tbsp butter, for frying
1 Tbsp olive oil, for frying

Steps:

  • Mix in all the meatball ingredients except butter and oil and mix well. Roll them into meatballs.
  • Heat olive oil and 2 Tbsp butter in a skillet and place meatballs without crowding them and fry till golden brown on all sides. Plate them out and set aside.
  • In the same pan, melt remaining 4 Tbsp butter. Gradually stir in flour to create a roux. Cook until flour starts to brown.
  • Slowly stir in beef broth, mixing all those bits stuck to the pan into the sauce.
  • Add in cream, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook for 4-5 minutes, until sauce starts to thicken up.
  • Add in meatballs. Simmer for 10 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your liking.
  • Serve it over bed of mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped parsley and lingonberry jam.

Cocktail meatballs are adored by armchair quaterbacks and hostesses across Canada. They're scrumptious, simple to make and easy to keep warm and serve from a crock pot. This recipe simmers juicy meatballs in a tangy sweeet and sour glaze made from grape jelly and chili sauce.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/2 onion, minced
1/4 cup milk
2 large eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup crisco vegetable oil
1 1/4 cups smucker's pure concord grape jelly
1 1/4 cups chili sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar or 2 tablespoons lemons, sauce

Steps:

  • FOR THE MEATBALLS: In a large bowl, combine beef, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, eggs, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Mix well. Shape into 36 one-inch meatbals.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs (in batches if necessary) and cook 8-10 minutes, turning, until browned. Drain on paper towels. Pour off excess oil.
  • FOR THE SAUCE: In the same skillet, combine grape jelly, chili sauce and vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until well combined, about 3 minutes.
  • Place browned meatballs over sauce, spooning sauce over to coat meatballs. Cover, simmer 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until sauce is bubbly and meatballs are cooked through.
  • Transfer glazed meatballs to a serving dish.
