AMISH SUGAR COOKIES
These easy-to-make, old-fashioned sugar cookies simply melt in your mouth! I've passed this recipe around to many friends. After I gave it to my sister, she entered the cookies in a local fair and won best of show. -Sylvia Ford, Kennett, Missouri

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, beat the butter, oil and sugars. Beat in eggs until well blended. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; gradually add to creamed mixture., Drop by small teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.

AMISH BUTTERMILK COOKIES RECIPE
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar for a couple of minutes until fluffy.
- Add the eggs and mix.
- Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix to combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture and mix until everything is incorporated.
- Drop onto parchment-lined cookie sheets and bake for 10 - 11 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to rest on the tray for a minute before removing to a wire cooling rack.
- Cool completely then drizzle or spread with glaze.

ELSIE'S AMISH COOKIES

- 1. Grind raisins and peanuts
- 2. Dissolve soda in sour milk
- 3. Mix all together
- 4. Chill overnight
- 5. Roll into balls
- 6. Brush with a well beaten egg
- 7. Bake at 350 until brown
ELSIE'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
This recipe includes Rice Krispies for a nice added crunch, and oatmeal as well. Grandma Elsie said she got this recipe from her sister (Sister Neil).

- Combine flour, baking powder and soda.
- Add flour mixture to the wet mixture.
- Stir in the oatmeal, chocolate, coconut.
- Stir in Rice Krispies last.

Steps:
- Mix granulated sugar, powdered sugar, butter, and cooking oil together.
- Add eggs, mix again.
- Add flour, cream of tartar, vanilla, and baking soda mix together.
- Drop small balls of dough on cookie sheet.
- Pour a small amount of granulated sugar in a bowl.
- Dip bottom of a cup in the small bowl of sugar.
- Then slightly flatten dough with the bottom of cup.
- Bake in oven at 375 degrees.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly brown.
