EASY GERMAN CHOCOLATE FUDGE RECIPE

Easy German Chocolate Fudge Recipe image

This German Chocolate Fudge Recipe is a perfect combination of a rich chocolate base and the classic coconut pecan topping. I love this option for an easy chocolate fudge recipe, and it is always a hit with crowds.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 package chocolate almond bark
2 Tablespoons butter
1 can Eagle-brand milk
1 can Eagle-brand milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 1/2 cups coconut
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Break up the package of Chocolate Almond Bark (melting chocolate); it comes in a long piece of chocolate, with indentations of squares. Break it up where the squares are visible. You can pierce the chocolate where the indentations are with a knife for easier breaking or separating. Once the chocolate is broken up, place it in a microwave safe bowl with the butter, and Eagle-brand milk, and microwave on 20 second intervals for about 2 - 3 minutes, until the chocolate is completely melted, and you have stirred all ingredients together, The ingredients should be stirred until silky, smooth and shiny. Place a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of a 9 X 9 inch dish, and pour the Chocolate Fudge into the dish, and smooth out evenly with the back of spoon or spatula. Place dish in the refrigerator for one hour before adding the topping.
  • When the chocolate fudge has set up, or is firm to the touch, make the topping. In a heavy saucepan, add the milk, sugar, butter, vanilla, and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook over medium low to low heat for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly, or until the mixture begins to thicken, resembling thick pudding. Remove from the heat, and stir in the coconut and pecans. Let cool for about 15 - 20 minutes, give it a good stir, then spread the warm topping on top of the chocolate fudge. Place the dish back in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours to set, or overnight for best results.
  • When fudge is completely set, cut in one inch squares and serve. Enjoy!

EASY GERMAN CHOCOLATE FUDGE RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Easy German Chocolate Fudge Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by msippigrl

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (11-12 oz) package milk chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 (15.5 oz) tub Coconut Pecan frosting (I used Betty Crocker)
Optional add-ins: (shown with these)
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup flaked coconut

Steps:

  • Line an 8x8" dish with aluminum foil then lightly coat it with cooking spray. Melt the chocolate chips as directed on package. (I used a small, non-stick pot on the stove top.) Stir the remaining ingredients into the melted chocolate. Pour into prepared dish and smooth it out. Refrigerate for at least an hour, or until hardened then lift out of pan with the foil and cut into 1-inch squares and serve. Store in the refrigerator. NOTE: To make Creamy Chocolate Fudge, just substitute Chocolate Frosting, and add chopped nuts, if desired.

CHOCOLATE FUDGE

Time 35m

Yield Makes 15 - 16 pieces

Number Of Ingredients 6

300ml whole milk
350g caster sugar
100g unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
100g dark chocolate, chopped (we used Green & Blacks, 70%)
chopped nuts, toffee pieces, mini chocolate buttons

Steps:

  • Line an 18cm square tin with greaseproof paper.
  • Put the milk, sugar and butter in a heavy-based saucepan. Heat gently, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon, until the sugar has dissolved and the butter has melted.
  • Bring to the boil for 15-20 mins, still stirring all the time. The mixture will bubble up - when it does, take it off the heat and keep stirring it until it sinks back down. Then return it to the heat.
  • Start to take the temperature after about 15 mins (continuing to stir or it will burn on the bottom). The time it takes to come up to temperature may vary, particularly in a cold kitchen. Once it reaches 115C on a temperature probe, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a good pinch of sea salt. Leave to cool for 5 mins.
  • Stir in the chopped chocolate and the mixture and keep stirring until the chocolate has melted. Quickly pour the mixture into your prepared tin and leave to set at room temperature.
  • Before the fudge has completely set, you can add rows of different toppings like nuts, toffees or mini chocolate buttons - just scatter them over the surface and gently press into the fudge until they stick. Make sure the fudge is only slightly warm when you do this - if it's too hot the toppings can melt. Once set, cut the fudge into small pieces and store in a sealed container.
