HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS STUFFED DINNER ROLLS



How to make delicious stuffed dinner rolls image

Stuffed dinner rolls are a popular choice of bread to be consumed as a part of a meal especially in dinner and a great companion for soups.

350 gm All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Sugar
5 gm Instant Yeast
1/3 cup Potato (Boiled Mashed)
220 ml Water
1/2 cup Stuffing (Fried potato-onion masala)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Salt
1 tbs Sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In luke warm water, add sugar and yeast. Stir it well and keep it aside until it froths.
  • In a bowl, add Flour, salt and mashed potatoes. Mix all the dry ingredients well.
  • Add the activated yeast mixture to the flour and knead it.
  • It will be sticky initially, hence take some oil in your hand and knead it for another 10 min. Add dry flour only if it is required.
  • After 10 minutes of kneading, you will get a soft dough. Place it in a greased bowl for first proofing and cover it with cling wrap. Let it rest for about 40 minutes or until it doubles in volume.
  • Once the dough doubles in volume, punch the dough to release the air and take it out on a dusted surface. Knead it for another 5-10 min.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Roll the each part and put some stuffing into it. Fold all the corners and seal all the edges properly. (Just like we do to make stuffed pranthas).
  • Place all the stuffed dough balls in a greased baking pan. Cover it and let it rest for second proofing. It will approximately take 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 200 degree Celsius for 10 min.
  • Give a milk wash to the rolls. You might also like to add Sesame seeds on the rolls. Bake them at 200 degree Celsius for 20 minutes (temperature and time can vary depending upon size of your Oven).
  • Once done take these out of oven and brush with olive oil. Serve hot.

DOUGH:
1-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon warm water (110° to 115°)
3 tablespoons sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 to 2-1/4 cups bread flour
FILLING:
1 pound ground beef
1-1/2 cups chopped cabbage
1/2 cup chopped onion
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, egg, salt and 1 cup flour; beat on low for 3 minutes. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl; turn once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add cabbage, onion, salt and pepper. Cover and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in cheese. Remove from the heat; set aside to cool. , Punch dough down and divide into 12 pieces. Gently roll out each piece into a 5-in. circle. Top each with about 1/4 cup filling. Fold dough over filling to meet in the center; pinch edges to seal. , Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes. Brush with butter. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Mmm! Homemade dinner rolls! What could be better?

1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
3 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ Better for Bread™ flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons bread machine or active dry yeast
Butter or margarine, melted, if desired

Steps:

  • Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except melted butter in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough/Manual cycle. Do not use delay cycle.
  • Remove dough from pan, using lightly floured hands. Cover and let rest 10 minutes on lightly floured surface.
  • Grease large cookie sheet with shortening. Divide dough into 15 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Cover and let rise in warm place 30 to 40 minutes or until double. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)
  • Heat oven to 375°F. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter. Serve warm, or cool on wire rack.

Whenever we get close to the end of a paycheck our meals become more cheap and oft times more original because we have to use whatever we have on hand. We made this up last night and I will certainly be making it a part of our regular menu. I served it with gravy and had steamed zucchini and yellow squash on the side. The dough I chose was a harder, crusty type of bread. The type that keeps all the filling inside. I don't know how different kinds of dough will turn out with this. You can also use different fillings. I added corn to a couple of mine and it was delicious. I really want to try replacing the onion with lipton onion soup mix. Note: I made 6 dumplings with mine but dough can easily make 8

1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
5 teaspoons granulated yeast (2 packets)
5 teaspoons sea salt or 5 teaspoons kosher salt
3 1/4 cups flour
1 lb hamburger
4 potatoes
1/2 onion
season salt
cheese slice

Steps:

  • Dough: Mix yeast together with warm water.
  • Mix in salt; add all the flour.
  • Stir until everything is blended.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place 2 hours.
  • Filling: Brown hamburger in skillet. Drain and set aside.
  • Chop potatoes and onions into small pieces.
  • Fry onion and potatoes with season salts with oil in skillet.
  • Once the oil starts to burn off add hamburger and cook until done.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • After the dough has risen, divide it into half, then half again. If those are still too big, divide them down further.
  • Stretch a section of dough out about the size of a hand. Be careful not to rip it.
  • Place a few small scoops of hamburger/potato/onion mix in the middle.
  • Place a piece of cheese on top.
  • Fold up the edges of the dough until pinched shut on top.
  • Grease pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until dough turns golden brown.
