I don't know why I called this Danish breakfast! It 's loaded with calories and high fat but once in a while it's good to stoke up and this is very good

26 soda crackers, crumbled
1/2 cup butter
6 slices bacon, fried and crumbled
2 eggs, beat until creamy
3/4 cup sour cream
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup grated emmenthaler cheese (Gouda good too)
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • In a pie plate make a crust of the soda crackers and the butter.
  • To the beaten eggs add; sour cream,emmenthal, cheddar,Bacon, salt& pepper.
  • Pour into the cracker crust.
  • Bake 375F degrees 25-30 minutes (until a knife comes out clean when inserted in the middle).
  • Let it sit for 10 min before cutting.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
2 large eggs, room temperature
5-1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, lemon zest, salt, mace, eggs and 2 cups flour; beat well. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover; let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch dough down. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 in. thick. Spread with 2 tablespoons butter. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar. Fold in half lengthwise; roll to 1/4-in. thickness. Spread with 2 tablespoons butter; sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar. , Fold in half widthwise; roll to an 18x10-in. rectangle. Spread with remaining butter. Combine the cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle half over dough to within 1/4 in. of edges. Roll up tightly, starting with a short side; pinch to seal. Cut into 1/2-in. slices. , Place on greased baking sheets (four to six slices per sheet). Cover with waxed paper and flatten with palm of hand. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar. Let stand in a warm place for 30 minutes., Bake at 400° for 12-15 minutes. Immediately remove from pans to wire racks.

  • To start, cut 1/2 tablespoon off the ends of each butter stick and set aside. Cut a stick of butter in half length-wise and lay the two pieces of butter in between two lightly floured pieces of parchment paper. Pound the butter flat with a rolling pin and roll into a flat rectangle. You want the rectangle to be roughly about 6 inches by 9 inches. Repeat with the other stick of butter and place both in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the dough.
  • In the bowl of your KitchenAid® Stand Mixer with the flat beater attached, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, salt and cardamom. Add in the reserved pieces of butter to the dry ingredients and work into the flour until pea-sized.
  • In a small bowl, combine the vanilla extract, milk, warm water and egg. Whisk together. Add the wet ingredients into the dry and beat until combined. Replace the flat beater with the dough hook, and mix and knead the dough for about 7 minutes on medium speed until sticky.
