Oven Baked BBQ Baby Back Ribs Recipe image

Fall-off-the-bone, tender bbq baby back ribs made with a flavorful homemade dry rub and baked in the oven to juicy perfection.

Provided by Jamie Silva

Categories     Dinner     Main Course

Time 3h20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons smoked paprika
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne powder
2 1/2 lbs baby back ribs (thawed)
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Your favorite bbq sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Place a wire rack inside a large baking sheet. Set aside.
  • Gently remove the thin membrane from the back of the rack of ribs with a knife or your hands. It should pull right off.
  • In a bowl, mix together all your dry rub ingredients. Generously season your ribs with the dry rub on both sides making sure to coat every inch of the rack.
  • Place the ribs on a large piece of aluminum foil, top side down, then splash them with the apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke. Fold the aluminum foil all around the ribs, sealing it entirely and securely, so no liquid leaks out.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 3 hours or until very tender. Remove them from the oven. Remove the aluminum foil from the ribs and generously brush them with bbq sauce. Place the ribs back in the oven and broil them for 5 minutes until caramelized. Serve and enjoy!

BAKED BABY BACK RIBS

Baked Baby Back Ribs image

Even a barbeque purist cannot scoff at these foil-wrapped, baked and glazed baby back ribs. They're satisfyingly sweet, savory, smoky and flavorful. The meat falls off the bones! Baking in foil also reduces the amount of clean up. You'll be busy enjoying these ribs -- who has time for dishes?

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 3h20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 slabs baby back ribs, about 1 pound each (see Cook's Note)
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon chipotle chile powder
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup apple cider
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chipotle chile powder, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, seafood seasoning and black pepper.
  • Place each slab of ribs on a piece of aluminum foil large enough to fold over and seal, then place on a baking sheet. Do not seal the ribs in the foil yet (see Cook's Note). Generously sprinkle the dry rub on both sides of the ribs. Place in the refrigerator, meat-side down and uncovered, for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, combine the apple cider, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, Worcestershire and minced garlic. Pour half the liquid over each slab and tightly seal each in the aluminum foil, crimping the edges to make a packet.
  • Transfer the foil packets and baking sheet to the oven and bake until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones, about 2 hours.
  • Remove the sheet pan from the oven. Carefully open the aluminum packets and pour the braising liquid into a small saucepan. Bring the liquid to a simmer over medium heat until it becomes a thick and syrupy glaze, about 4 minutes.
  • While the braising liquid reduces, line a baking sheet with foil and gently transfer the ribs to it. Position a rack on the top level of the oven and preheat the broiler.
  • Using a pastry brush, generously brush the ribs with about half the glaze. Place the ribs under the broiler for about 1 minute. Brush with the remaining glaze and return to the broiled until charred in spots, about 1 minute more. Slice each rack between the bones into 2-rib portions and serve.

EASY FALL OFF THE BONE OVEN-BAKED RIBS

Easy Fall Off the Bone Oven-Baked Ribs image

Low and slow cooking make these oven-baked ribs fall off the bone tender. Once baked, we like to add our sweet and spicy barbecue sauce to the ribs, but use whatever you love. For the most tender ribs, we remove the thin membrane covering the back of the rack. Depending on where you have purchased ribs, this may already be done for you. If not, instructions are in the notes section below. FAQ: We call for baby back ribs in the recipe, but other types of ribs (spareribs, country-style, St. Louis-style) will work with this recipe. Cook time should be similar, we recommend that you check on the ribs while they cook to see how they are progressing. FAQ: Doubling or tripling the recipe below should not change the recipe method or bake time. You might need to use two pans for baking.

Time 3h15m

Yield Makes 4 Servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 to 2 1/2 pounds baby back pork ribs
Salt and black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup finely diced onion
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 cup ketchup, try our homemade ketchup recipe
1 tablespoon hot chili sauce (suggestion Sriracha)
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Salt and ground pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 275° Fahrenheit (135C).
  • If the ribs still have the thin membrane covering the back of the rack, remove it. See how in the notes section below.
  • Season both sides of the ribs with a generous amount of salt and pepper. If you are using a spice rub, add season the ribs with it now. Place the ribs, meat-side up, into a large roasting pan or rimmed baking sheet. (It may be necessary to cut the ribs in half for them to fit into the pan).
  • Cover the pan or baking sheet tightly with aluminum foil, and then bake until the meat falls easily from the bones, 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours. We like to check the ribs after 2 hours to see how they are progressing. The ribs are done when the meat is cooked through and tender.
  • While the ribs bake, make the barbecue sauce. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in the cumin and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the ketchup, hot chili sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine, season with salt then cook for 2 minutes. Set aside in preparation for the ribs to finish roasting.
  • Remove the ribs from the oven, discard the aluminum foil and generously brush both sides with barbecue sauce.
  • Optional: Move an oven rack near the top of the oven. Turn broiler to high and broil the ribs for 3-4 minutes, just until the barbecue sauce begins to caramelize. (Keep a close eye on the ribs while they broil so the sauce does not burn.)
  • Store baked ribs, in an airtight container, in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze, wrapped in foil or freezer paper and in an airtight container, for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator, and then reheat.
  • To reheat the ribs, wrap in foil or parchment paper and place into a 300°F oven until warmed through, about 30 minutes. If you have some leftover, slather some extra sauce that's been warmed over the ribs before serving.

Costillitas (Cuban Style Baby Back Ribs recipe) Recipe - (5/5) image

Provided by á-7894

Number Of Ingredients 8

6-8 lb lean baby back pork ribs
8 Cloves of garlic
Juice of 3 large lemons
1/4 tsp. ground oregano
1 cup sour orange juice
(Or 1 Cup of Orange Juice with the juice of 1 large lime ( I use 1/2 & 1/2 of each)
5 tsp of salt
2 teaspoon of olive oil

Steps:

  • Cut the ribs in 5 to 7 inches sections. Wash well under faucet and dry thoroughly with paper towel. Smash the garlic cloves in a mortar or garlic press. Mix the sour orange juice, lime juice, oregano, garlic, olive oil and 1/ 2 teaspoon of salt. Set aside about 1/2 cup of this mix ( the marinating sauce) to be used when serving. Place ribs in a large non-metal container and pour the rest of mix over the ribs. Rub the remaining salt thoroughly on all surfaces of the ribs. Place in the refrigerator and let stand for 2 to 3 hours. Set you gas or charcoal grill to low and place ribs so that they are not exposed to direct flame. Cook slowly for about 30 - 45 minutes. Time will depend on the temperature of the your grill . (Cook very slowly to insure tenderness). Turn ribs once or twice while cooking. Once they are cooked, increase the heat to high or in the case of a charcoal grill place ribs over direct high charcoal heat in order to brown. Turn as needed to brown both sides well. Serve with black beans and rice!!

CUBAN BAKED RIBS

Cuban Baked Ribs image

I had baby back ribs in the freezer but wasn't motivated to smoke them so I got creative. We love Cuban pork roast so I decided how bad could ribs be. Turns out they're great! My husband couldn't stop eating them, he shoved his baked potato aside and said use it for hash browns at breakfast, I'm eating ribs!

Categories     Pork

Time 3h5m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 rack baby back ribs or pork ribs of choice
1/2 large onion, sliced
2 c mojo sauce, find in latin section i like badia brand
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. NOTE - I think this recipe would be perfect in the slow cooker. Tonight was the first time I made it and I did it in the oven but there's no reason you couldn't use the crockpot. I'd do it on low for 8 hours.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
  • 3. Cut ribs apart, 2 bones per piece
  • 4. Place in a baking pan or casserole dish.
  • 5. Pour the mojo sauce over and top with the onion and salt and pepper.
  • 6. Cover tightly with foil and bake until tender, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. There will be a lot of cooking juices, be careful!
