CREAM CHEESE SWIRL BANANA BREAD



Cream Cheese Swirl Banana Bread image

Mash bananas, chop pecans and make tasty Swirled Cream Cheese Banana Bread! With just 15 minutes of prep time, this cream cheese banana bread can be yours.

1/4 cup butter, softened
1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
1 cup mashed fully ripe bananas (about 3)
1 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream
3 eggs, divided
2-1/4 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Beat butter and 1 cup sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add bananas, sour cream and 2 eggs; mix well. Add combined dry ingredients; mix just until moistened. Stir in nuts.
  • Spoon half of batter into greased and floured 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Add remaining sugar and egg; mix well. Drop half of cream cheese mixture by tablespoonfuls over batter; repeat layers. Swirl with knife.
  • Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 min.; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely before slicing.

Mix the flour with sugar, baking soda, and salt and add to the large bowl – mix until just combined. Add about 3/4 of the chopped walnuts and fold in, keep the rest for the decoration. Pour about 1/3 of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, then add about 1/2 of the cream cheese filling on top (try to keep it in the center), spoon another 1/3 of the batter on top to cover the filling, then repeat the layering with the remaining cream cheese filling and batter. Cut the banana lengthwise in half and place on top of the batter, sprinkle with the remaining chopped walnuts and bake for 65-75 minutes or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top gets too dark during baking, cover with a piece of aluminum foil and continue baking. Take the finished cake out of the oven and let cool down in
