BAKED APPLE SLICES
Warm baked apple slices with honey and cinnamon. Tastes like apple pie without the fuss of a crust! The ultimate healthy, easy apple dessert.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a very large, microwave-safe mixing bowl, heat the butter in the microwave until it melts. If your bowl is not microwave safe, melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl or in a saucepan on the stove, then pour it into the larger bowl.
- To the mixing bowl, add the apple slices, honey, cornstarch, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and bourbon. Stir to coat.
- Pour the mixture into a deep 9x9 or similarly sized baking dish. Pour any liquid that has collected in the bottom of the bowl over the top.
- Bake the apples for 25 minutes, until fork tender but not completely mushy.
- Serve hot, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream as desired.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Beat sugar and butter together in a bowl using and electric mixer until smooth and creamy; add flour. Beat mixture until just combined; fold in cheese until dough is evenly mixed.
- Spread apples into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spoon dough mixture over apples to evenly cover.
- Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 35 to 40 minutes.

BAKED APPLES RECIPE (TWO WAYS)
You can use this recipe to make stuffed baked apples with my delicious cinnamon and brown sugar mixture and nuts of your choice, or you can make baked sliced apples, tossed with the same delicious brown sugar mixture. Either way, serve your baked apples warm. This recipe is vegan and gluten free, but if you like, you can serve the cooked apples with a good scoop of your favorite ice cream!

STEWED APPLES

- Heat the butter in a large heavy saute pan over medium-high heat. Add the butternut squash and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cook until the squash is beginning to caramelize, about 6 to 8 minutes. Add the apples and continue to brown, another 5 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of water and the sugar. Cover, then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Add the cinnamon and cook until the squash and apples are coated in a deep golden brown glaze, about 5 minutes more. Transfer the stew to a serving bowl and serve.
COOKED APPLES WITH A TWIST
I have an excess of applies, so thought I'd try this combination of ingredients. Sliced apples cooked with a combination of milk, brown sugar,cinnamon, peanut butter and Heath candy chips (for cookies). A nice recipe to serve with sausage links and scrambled eggs , and a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese, or with pancakes. The sauce is good to dip the sausage links in. .

- Place the milk in a saucepan first, then the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil and cook until apples are to your desired doneness. These ingredients are a guess. I put too much sugar in, so next time I will cut down on that.
COOKED APPLES
Steps:
- Core and quarter apples (do not peel). In a large heavy saucepan combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, covered, over high heat. As soon as ingredients begin to boil, lower heat to a simmer. Simmer apples, covered, for 20 minutes. Remove pan from heat and let apples stand, covered, for 10 minutes before serving.

- In a small bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide pastry in half so that one ball is slightly larger than the other. Shape each piece into a disk about 1-in. thick. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes or up to 3 days., Remove the pastry from the refrigerator and let stand 15-30 minutes. Meanwhile, place apples in a large bowl. Stir in the sugar, apple cider, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, salt, vanilla and lemon juice. Add the butter and flour; stir until combined; set aside., Roll out the large disk on a lightly flour surface to fit a 9-in. pie plate. Transfer pastry to pie plate. Trim pastry even with edge of plate. Add filling. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie; place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in top., Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Gently place a sheet of foil on top of pie. Bake for an additional 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the top crust is golden brown and the filling bubbly., Cool on a wire rack overnight. To serve warm, heat individual slices in the microwave. Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
