4 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
1/4 c. butter
1 package Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
12 Oreo cookies

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Prepare cake batter and bake in 2 (9-inch) round pans as directed on package. Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes. Invert onto wire racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
  • Microwave chocolate and butter in small microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Cool 5 minutes. Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gently stir in COOL WHIP and crushed cookies.
  • Place 1 cake layer on plate, spread with cream cheese mixture. Top with remaining cake layer. Spread top with chocolate glaze; let stand 10 minutes or until firm. Keep refrigerated.

This recipe is very simple but will wow anyone. Oreo® recently started selling them, but I still like to make my own. You can substitute the milk chocolate chips for white, dark, and even mint during Christmas time.

1 (12 ounce) package milk chocolate chips
3 tablespoons shortening
1 (14 ounce) package chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®)
4 ounces white chocolate, melted

Steps:

  • Place milk chocolate chips and shortening in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir frequently, scraping down the sides with a rubber spatula to avoid scorching, until chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Drop one Oreo® into the chocolate, making sure it is covered completely. Remove the cookie using a knife, picking it up by the bottom. Lightly shake or tap the knife so that excess chocolate can be removed and place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cookies.
  • Let cookies dry completely, about 1 hour.
  • Drizzle melted white chocolate over dried cookies. Let dry completely before storing, about 1 hour more.
