The moment I saw the name of these cookies in my new "Chocolate Mousse and Other Fabulous Chocolate Creations" cookbook I had to laugh. My kids are snickerdoodle fanatics and what better way to improve them?

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs.
  • Gradually add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
  • Stir in mini-chips and set aside.
  • In a small bowl. mix the topping sugar and cinnamon together.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in coating mixture.
  • Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten with a fork (use a rocking motion).
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  • Place on wire racks to cool.

1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
⅔ cup cocoa powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or just until set. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups white sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together cocoa, white sugar, and vegetable oil. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the cocoa mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least 4 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough into one inch balls. I like to use a number 50 size scoop. Coat each ball in confectioners' sugar before placing onto prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Let stand on the cookie sheet for a minute before transferring to wire racks to cool.

I am famous for my cookie plates every Christmas. I am always looking for different cookie recipes. This one adds a chocolate twist to the traditional snickerdoodle recipe.

1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In large bowl, cream butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, beat until smooth.
  • Combine dry ingredients (except 3/4 tsp cinnamon) Add dry to creamed, stir.
  • Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon in small bowl.
  • Roll cookie dough into 1-inch balls, roll in sugar mixture.
  • Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets at 375° for 6-8 minutes.
  • Cool on wire racks.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in chips., Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets. 1 cup whole almond (blanched)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 pinch cream of tartar
slivered almonds, to decorate (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F Place almonds on a sml baking sheet & bake 10-12 minutes, turning occ till golden brown. Allow almonds to cool to room temperature Reduce oven temp to 325°F.
  • Line a lrg baking sheet w/baking parchment. In a food processor, process the toasted almonds w/half the sugar till the almonds are finely ground but not oily.
  • Transfer the ground almonds to a bowl & stir in cocoa powder & confectioner's sugar. Set aside.
  • In a med mixing bowl, beat egg whites & cream of tartar w/a hand-held mixer till stiff peaks form.
  • Sprinkle in the remaining sugar 1 tbsp at a time, beating well after ea addition & cont beating till the whites are glossy & stiff. Beat in the almond extract.
  • Add the almond sugar mixture & gently fold into the beaten egg whites till just blended.
  • Spoon the mixture into a lrg piping bag filled w/a plain 1/2 in nozzle. Pipe 1 1/2 in rounds about 1 in apart on the prepared baking sheet. Press a slivered almond into the center of ea cookie.
  • Bake cookies for 12-15 minutes or till they are crisp. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.
  • W/a metal spatula, transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely. When cool, store in an airtight jar or cookie tin.
