We've been making this recipe for over twenty years. It was a favorite potluck appetizer recipe shared by a previous co-worker.

2 cans shrimp
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, plus
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon horseradish
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons dill weed

Steps:

  • Make one day ahead.
  • Let cream cheese rest at room temperature until soft.
  • Mash all ingredients together (a potato masher works great).
  • Chill before serving, at least one day.

My family's Beach Vacation Fun Dip. We eat this at the pool or while playing cards. A recipe to try at least one time and you'll be hooked. This dip will keep in the fridge for 1 week, But I doubt it will last 1 day!

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (softened)
1 (8 ounce) package frozen baby shrimp (thawed and finely chopped)
1/2 cup sweet onion (finely diced)
4 ounces shredded mild cheddar cheese
4 ounces shredded monterey jack pepper cheese
1/4 cup crumbled bacon
3 tablespoons Miracle Whip
3 tablespoons sour cream
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon chopped chives
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon curry powder
2 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce or 2 teaspoons texas pete hot sauce
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Add ingredients, except the Paprika, in the order given and thoroughly mix, with a mixer, on low to med.
  • speed until all ingredients are blended.
  • Refrigerate for 1 hour, or if you like it warm, place the dip in a glass casserole dish and bake for 20 minutes on 350° or until hot & bubbly.
  • Sprinkle top with paprika and serve with celery sticks, Crackers or Pieces of Sour Dough Bread, or even serve it in a Bread Bowl for Parties.
  • Best if served Hot! In regards to recent review.

I found this recipe on a card at the supermarket and tweaked it to fit our tastes. I always serve this with assorted crackers.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese, divided
1 1/2 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2-1 teaspoon hot sauce, to taste
1 lb shrimp, cooked and chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine the mayonnaise, 3/4 c cheese, Old Bay, Worcestershire, mustard and hot sauce in a bowl; mix well.
  • Fold in the shrimp and spoon in a 1 quart casserole dish.
  • Top with the remaining cheese.
  • Sprinkle a dash of Old Bay on top.
  • Bake until the dip begins to bubble around the edges, about 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot with crackers.

Don't let the ingredients fool you. And so easy! This is a delicious hot shrimp dip that is great for pot luck dinners, football parties or other fun gatherings.

2 (10 ounce) cans broken shrimp, drained
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 sweet onion, minced
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in microwaveable dish.
  • Microwave on high 2 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and blend with a fork, breaking up the shrimp as you stir.
  • Microwave again for 2 minutes or until hot.
  • Stir again until well blended.
  • Pour into a serving dish and serve with a variety of crackers.
  • You can also serve in a mini-crockpot to keep hot.

This recipe came in an e-mail newsletter I get and I couldn't believe it. My mom used to make it for just about every party she ever had. So this is a 70's recipe. I don't know that there is such a thing as a 14.5oz can of shrimp, but I am leaving this recipe true to my memory. I have no idea why it is called Fireside, but I am going with it. As the newsleter said "It's a perfect idea when you are having people over who are not real open to new-fangled ideas on food. It's straight-forward and wonderful."

1/2 lb sharp cheddar cheese
1 (4 1/2 ounce) can baby shrimp
1/2 medium onion, diced small
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
cracker

Steps:

  • Hand grate the cheese. Use a medium-sized grate so you have some nice-sized shreds.
  • Dice onion, whatever size you like.
  • Rinse and drain shrimp. (can also use frozen cooked shrimp diced up about 1/2lb, I do).
  • Add the shrimp and onion to the cheese along with the mayonnaise and the Worcestershire sauce. Stir until blended.
  • Find a decorative bowl to serve this in as it's pretty plain looking otherwise.
  • Set out a spreader or spoon so guests can mound the dip on a cracker.
