Easy Pizza Fondue image

This Easy Pizza Fondue is a delicious and interactive dinner or appetizer idea. Dip bread and all of your favourite pizza toppings into a flavourful pizza cheese!

Provided by Jo-Anna Rooney

Number Of Ingredients 19

12 oz mozzarella cheese (grated)
1 oz Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
1 tbsp flour (or rice flour)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
3/4 cup dry white wine
2/3 cup drained canned diced tomatoes
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp dried basil)
1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano (or 1 tsp dried oregano)
cubes of crusty bread
pepperoni sticks
salami cubes
cooked sausage chunks
bell pepper chunks
mushrooms
grape tomatoes
ham
pineapple
black olives

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine the mozzarella, Parmesan and flour. Mix well to coat the cheese with flour. Set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the garlic and wine, bring to a simmer over medium heat. Then reduce the heat to medium-low.
  • Add the cheese mixture by the handful to the saucepan, stirring constantly after each addition. Use a spoon and stir in a figure eight motion until the cheese is melted.
  • Stir in the tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, basil and oregano. Cook, stirring, until the tomatoes are heated through, about 2 minutes.
  • Transfer to a fondue pot and serve immediately.

Recipe by Andrew Schloss, courtesy of Mealtime.org. If you think that fondue is sophisticated, adults-only party fare, think again. Why should grown-ups have all the fun? This velvety dip has all the flavorful elements of cheese pizza but offers better nutrition. Kids will love the warm pita triangles that reinforce the pizza theme, but it is equally good as a vegetable dip, or a dip for chicken fingers, mini-meatballs, oven-baked fries, or wherever your imagination takes you. EASY PIZZA FONDUE

This is one of my kids' favorite meals, and it's incredibly simple and quick. You can add a little beef bouillon for a beefier taste. Serve with French bread or breadsticks. Dip bread directly into the pot or ladle into bowls to serve.
