HAM AND CHEESE LOAF
This golden loaf starts with convenient refrigerated dough and is stuffed with deli ham and three types of cheese. I created the recipe by experimenting with ingredients my family loves. It makes a delicious hot sandwich in hardly any time. -Gloria Lindell, Welcome, Minnesota

- Preheat oven to 350°. Unroll dough onto a greased baking sheet; top with the ham, onions and cheeses. Roll up tightly jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal and tuck ends under. Brush with butter., Bake until golden brown, 30-35 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes; cut into 1-in. slices. Freeze option: Cool unsliced loaf on a wire rack. Spray a large piece of foil with cooking spray. Wrap loaf in prepared foil and freeze for up to 3 months. To use, thaw at room temperature for 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350°. Unwrap and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes; cut into 1-in. slices.

CHEESY HAM LOAF
This cheese-filled ground ham and pork loaf makes a kid-pleasing meal for family dinners.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch square baking dish with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
- Combine breadcrumbs, ketchup, onion, egg, dry mustard and pepper in bowl. Add ham, pork and cheese; mix lightly. Shape mixture into 7x3 1/2-inch loaf.
- Place loaf in prepared baking dish. Bake 55-60 minutes or until thoroughly cooked and juices run clear.
- Combine all glaze ingredients in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 3-4 minutes or until preserves melt and sugar is dissolved. Pour half of glaze into small dish. Brush loaf with glaze occasionally during last 30 minutes of baking.
- Let baked ham loaf stand 10 minutes before serving; cut into slices. Serve with remaining heated glaze, if desired.

"I COPIED this recipe exactly the way Grandma has written it in her worn cookbook. The only difference today is that I can't get home-smoked ham like those Grandpa used to cure in his old-fashioned smokehouse. - In a large bowl, beat the eggs; add milk, bread crumbs and pepper. Add ham and pork; mix well. In a shallow baking pan, shape meat mixture into an 8x4-in. oval. Insert a thermometer. - In a large bowl, combine the contents of the roll mix and yeast packets. Stir in the warm water, egg and 1 tablespoon butter. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes; set aside. , In a large skillet, saute onion and green pepper in remaining butter until tender. Remove from the heat; stir in ham, cheeses and parsley., On a greased baking sheet, roll dough into a 15x10-in. rectangle. Spoon ham mixture lengthwise down the center of dough. On each long side, cut 1-in.-wide strips about 2 in into the center. Starting at one end, fold alternating strips at an angle across filling. Pinch ends to seal. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes or until almost doubled., In a small bowl, beat egg white and cold water; brush over dough. Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers.

- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Flatten dough on lightly floured surface. Roll into 12x8-inch rectangle with rolling pin. Top with ham to within 1/2 inch of edges. Mix cheddar and dressing; spread over ham.
- Moisten edges of dough with water. Fold lengthwise into thirds; pinch seams together to seal. Place, seam side down, on baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Cut several slits in top. Brush with egg; sprinkle with Parmesan.

HAM AND CHEESE LOAF

Steps:
- Thaw the bread dough overnight, then bring to room temperature before rolling (but don't let it rise).
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- On a lightly floured work surface, roll the bread dough into a 9-by-12-inch rectangle. When rolling, if the dough springs back, cover with a dry towel and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Shingle the ham slices onto the dough, leaving a 1/4 inch of exposed dough on all sides. Sprinkle with the cheese and roll the dough into a large log, pinching together the seam and tucking the ends under to seal completely.
- Place the log, seam-side down, in the prepared loaf pan and bake until golden brown and cooked through and the internal temperature is 200 degrees, for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
- Let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Remove from the pan. Slice and serve.
CHEESY HAM LOAF
This is great to have warm form the oven and the next morning for breakfast. I tried to grind up the ham and cheeses and it wasn't quite as tasty. Seems better to use cubes.

- Brown bacon over medium heat until light golden brown. Drain.
- In large mixing bowl, beat eggs uintil foamy.
- Add milk, flour, baking powder and salt. Beat until smooth.
- Stir in remaining ingredients and bacon; blend well.
- Pour into greased and floured 9X5-inch loaf pan.
- Bake at 350 for 50 to 60 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from pan. serve hot, cut in slices.
- tips: if desired, add 1 teaspoon prepared mustard.
- recipe can be doubled and baked in 2 9X5 loaf pans.
- I have sometimes added a chopped onion which I had cooked in the bacon grease.
