The alcohol will mostly cook out and all you'll be left with is the wonderful flavor. If you don't want to add the Hot Damn then double the amount of red hot candies. I did pork steaks with this sauce and it was amazing!!!

1 - 18 ounce bottle plain bbq sauce
1 -12 ounce can frozen apple juice
1- 18 ounce jar apple jelly
1 - 18 ounce jar plum jam
6 ounces red hot's candy
1 cup dekuyper hot damn
¾ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon liquid smoke
3/4 cup hot sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Put the candies in a zip lock bag and crush them.
  • 2. Bring apple juice and red hots to a boil, in a non stick pot. Turn down heat and reduce by ½. You'll want to stir this often.
  • 3. Remove from heat and add the liquor, then place the pot back on a low heat. NEVER ADD ANY LIQUOR TO A PAN WHILE IT IS ON THE HEAT!
  • 4. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer, for about 1 hour.
  • 5. After 1 hour I take about ½ out while it is thin like for a marinade. Then I cook down the rest till it is reduced by ½.
  • 6. Red hot candies

This is a recipe that I did a couple of years ago. It takes some time, but it's worth it.

4 cups barbeque sauce
4 cups applesauce
4 pounds baby back pork ribs
salt and black pepper to taste
cayenne pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste

Steps:

  • Mix the barbeque sauce and applesauce in bowl. Place ribs on a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil, and rub on all sides with the salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Pour sauce over ribs to coat. Seal ribs in the foil. Marinate in the refrigerator 8 hours, or overnight.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Place ribs in foil on the grill grate, and cook 1 hour. Remove ribs from foil, and place directly on the grill grate. Continue cooking 30 minutes, basting frequently with the sauce, until ribs are done.

Tried, tweaked, and tested over the years to perfection! Use on all your BBQ meats or serve as an excellent sauce on oven-roasted dishes such as pork chops or chicken.

2 cups ketchup
1 cup dark brown sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce
⅓ cup real maple syrup
¼ cup molasses
¼ cup bacon fat
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ cup apple cider

Steps:

  • Stir ketchup, brown sugar, applesauce, maple syrup, molasses, bacon fat, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, allspice, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and nutmeg together in a large saucepan over medium heat until thoroughly combined. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for at least 1 hour, adding apple cider if a thinner consistency is desired.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool slightly, about 15 minutes.
  • Use a funnel to pour BBQ sauce into a clean, sterilized 32-ounce bottle or container. Seal and store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
