Both of my boys really enjoyed helping me make this butterscotch monkey bread when they were young. It seemed to taste twice as good when they helped fix it. It's one of our favorites for breakfast or as a snack. -Carol Allen, McLeansboro, Illinois

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package (3-1/2 ounces) cook-and-serve butterscotch pudding mix
3/4 cup sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans, optional
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 tubes (10 ounces each) refrigerated biscuits

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Combine pudding mix, sugar, cinnamon and, if desired, pecans. Pour butter into a shallow bowl; quarter biscuits. Dip several pieces into butter; place in pudding mixture and toss to coat. , Arrange in a greased 10-in. fluted tube pan. Repeat until all biscuit pieces are coated. Bake until browned, 30-35 minutes. Cool 5-10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.

1 (3.5 ounce) package cook and serve butterscotch pudding mix
¾ cup white sugar
1 (12 ounce) package frozen dinner rolls
¾ cup chopped pecans
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Butter a large tube pan. Sprinkle butterscotch pudding mix and white sugar into tube pan. Arrange rolls around the pan. Sprinkle with pecans and brown sugar, then drizzle melted butter on top. Place pan in a cold oven and allow dough to rise overnight.
  • Remove pan from oven.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Invert pan onto a large plate to serve.

22 frozen dinner rolls
½ cup margarine, cut into pieces
1 (3.5 ounce) package cook and serve butterscotch pudding mix
½ cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
¾ cup milk

Steps:

  • Arrange dinner rolls in a tube pan. Scatter margarine pieces evenly over rolls.
  • Mix pudding mix, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl; pour over rolls. Place a towel over tube pan and all dough to rise overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Pour milk over risen dough, allowing milk to seep through any gaps.
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 20 to 23 minutes. Allow bread to rest for 5 minutes. Invert pan onto a baking sheet or large plate to serve.

2 (10 1/4 ounce) cans refrigerated biscuits
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Place butterscotch pudding mix and biscuits in a plastic bag and shake to coat.
  • Place coated biscuits in a well-greased bundt or tube pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and pour over biscuits.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and place pan on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes.
  • Invert onto a plate and serve immediately.

  • Grab 3 medium size prep bowls. Add the melt the butter to the first, the butterscotch pudding to the second and brown sugar to the third.
  • Grab your defrosted bread dough loaves and, using a sharp knife, cut the dough into bite size (or larger if you're in a hurry - this is my mom's way, she is always in a hurry!) pieces. Working one piece at a time, dip the balls into the melted butter, allowing excess butter to drip back into bowl, then butterscotch pudding and then roll through the brown sugar. Layer the balls evenly in your greased bundt pan. Repeat with the remaining balls. If you have any butter, butterscotch pudding or brown sugar left over pour or sprinkle the leftover over on top the bread.
  • Cover the Bundt pan with plastic wrap and place in warm place for 40 to 45 minutes or place in the fridge overnight. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place the monkey bread on a cookie sheet and bake for about 40-50 minutes until the crust is a deep dark brown on top. When it's finished cooking, remove it from the oven and allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes. The turn the bundt over onto a plate for 5 minutes or so. Serve warm!
