Butterfly Bait Recipes
BUTTERFLY BAIT
This is a nice concoction to attract butterflies to your flower gardens and ponds.

Steps:
- Mix all together and place in the sun and allow to ferment for a day. (The plastic bucket from a gallon of ice cream works great.) Use a loose fitting lid on the container to allow gases to escape during the fermentation process.
- After fermenting, store in a shady area. STORE IT AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
- Dab on fence posts, rocks, old tree trunks, etc.. (An old paint brush will work nicely.) Do this every couple of days dabbing on the same places. Results will get better as time goes on.
- Well placed rocks in a flower garden will make it easier for the butterflies to find and you'll know where to look for them.
BUTTERFLY BAIT
I found this recipe in a Beta Sigma Phi cookbook my mom gave me for Christmas many years ago. I haven't tried it because I live in a condo and don't have my own backyard. This mixture attracts Butterflies by day and Moths by night.

Steps:
- Mix all ingredients in a large jar or crock.
- Cover loosely and place in the sun. Let ferment for 1 day. Make sure cover is loose fitting as it expands with fermentation.
- Store in shady area after fermenting.
- Dab mixture on posts, rocks, or tree trunks with an old paint brush. Results will improve with time. Butterflies seem to find it more easily on a large rock in a flower bed.
