Brown sugar glaze, made with just 3 ingredients, in less than 5 minutes. It can be used to drizzle over cakes, breads, pastries, or any dessert.

1 cup brown, cane or coconut sugar (170 g)
3 tbsp unsweetened plant milk of your choice, I used soy milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Steps:

  • Add the sugar to a blender and blend until you get a powdered texture.
  • Add the sugar to a bowl, among with the milk and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk and if it's too thin, add more powdered brown sugar.
  • Use the glaze as a classic sugar glaze for topping desserts like vegan bread pudding, donuts, banana bread, etc. Keep leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for 4-5 days.

6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed light-brown sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Heat butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Add cream, vanilla, and salt, and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, and let cool until thickened. Use glaze immediately.

1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
OR brown sugar alternative ((for lower sugar option))
1/3 cup honey ((can use maple syrup for a different flavor note))
1/2 cup pineapple juice (or crushed pineapple with some extra juice if you like some chunks)
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Place all of the ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Simmer for 7-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture is slightly syrupy (it will thicken as it cools).For the best flavor, refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to fully develop. This brown sugar glaze will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks.

This is my favorite recipe! I make this way too often. It's quick and easy! I serve this with rice and broccoli.

¼ cup packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
4 (6 ounce) boneless salmon fillets
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack at about 6 inches from the heat source; prepare the rack of a broiler pan with cooking spray.
  • Season the salmon with salt and pepper and arrange onto the prepared broiler pan. Whisk together the brown sugar and Dijon mustard in a small bowl; spoon mixture evenly onto top of salmon fillets.
  • Cook under the preheated broiler until the fish flakes easily with a fork, 10 to 15 minutes.

  • In a small saucepan whisk 1/2 cup brown sugar with butter and cream over low heat until the sugar dissolves; remove the pan from the heat.
  • Whisk in icing sugar and molasses.
  • Let sit at room temperature or chill until the mixture is desired texture, then spread or drizzle over cake or sweet rolls.
  • Store any unused glaze in the fridge.
