This is an adaptation of a friend's recipe. My kids go crazy over this syrup when we have pancakes or waffles. It's also good on apple slices or strawberries. The only problem is that my kids always forget their manners and lick the leftover syrup off their plates.

½ cup white sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup water

Steps:

  • Stir together the white sugar, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a small saucepan. Stir in vanilla extract and water. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring often. Continue to boil and stir until mixture thickens to syrup consistency. Remove from heat; cool 10 minutes before serving.

A simple little recipe for when you get caught without any syrup for your pancakes or even over some ice cream.

1 lb brown sugar (2 cups)
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring or 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a medium sauce pan, add brown sugar and water and bring to a boil.
  • Stir constantly for about 3 minutes and reduce heat to low.
  • Keep stirring until all sugar has dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and stir in flavoring.
  • If using cinnamon, add to dry brown sugar before adding liquid.
  • Allow to cool before using.

1/2 cup (120 grams) of brown sugar
1/2 cup (0.12 l) of cold tap water
Two cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp (7 grams) of ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • The first step to making this syrup is collecting all the ingredients.
  • Once you've collected all ingredients, add them to a small saucepan.
  • Place the saucepan on the stove on medium heat.
  • Heat the mixture while continually stirring.
  • Once the brown sugar starts to dissolve, you can lower the heat.
  • Simmer the sugar syrup for an additional five minutes to let the cinnamon infuse with the syrup.
  • After five minutes, remove the pan from the heat.
  • Pour the coffee syrup into a resealable container of choice.
  • If you're using cinnamon sticks, remove them before storing the syrup.
  • Let the syrup cool completely, and once cooled, place it in the fridge until you're ready to use it.

1 cup brown sugar
3 cinnamon sticks, broken into smaller pieces
8 whole cloves

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients with 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until sugar has completely dissolved, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove pan from heat and let the syrup cool. Strain syrup into a clean jar; discard solids. May be refrigerated for a week.
