BONZAI BURGER (FROM RED ROBIN RESTAURANT)
I found this recipe on the recipegoldmine website. It was submitted by GayleL, which she attributes the original source as Steven Brummer with Red Robin Restaurants. The Bonzai Burger is my favorite burger when we go to that restaurant. I have also broiled the beef patties with equal success, so you can still have your favorite burger even when rainy weather makes grilling impossible.

Steps:
- Shape ground beef into a round burger patty. Marinate the burger patty in bowl #1 of teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes.
- Marinate pineapple ring in bowl # 2 of teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes.
- Remove burger patty and grill on high heat to desired doneness. Melt cheese on top of patty while still on grill pan by covering with lid.
- Grill pineapple ring on medium heat for 1 minute on each side.
- Spread mayo on both halves of the bun.
- On bottom bun, place tomato slices, followed by the broiled hamburger patty with cheese (tomato on the bottom!).
- On top of burger patty, stack the pineapple ring and shredded lettuce.
- Put the two together and you've got a signature Red Robin Bonzai Burger.
COPYCAT RED ROBIN BANZAI BURGER RECIPE
Teriyaki burgers with grilled pineapple that taste like they came straight from a restaurant!

Steps:
- Form ground beef into 4 equal sized patties.
- Pour one cup of teriyaki sauce in a container and let hamburger patties marinate for at least thirty minutes.
- Pour the second cup of teriyaki sauce in a bowl and let pineapple rings marinate for at least thirty minutes.
- Remove hamburger patties from teriyaki sauce and grill on high heat until you reach desired doneness.
- Melt cheese on top of hamburgers while still on the grill.
- Grill pineapple rings on medium heat for one minute on each side.
- Spread 1/2 Tablespoon of mayonnaise on each half of each hamburger bun.
- Place tomato slices on the bottom buns and top with hamburger patties.
- On top of each hamburger patty, place pineapple rings and shredded lettuce.
- Top with top half of hamburger buns.
- Serve with extra teriyaki sauce.

- (If using store-bought teriyaki sauce, skip down to step two!) For the homemade teriyaki sauce whisk all ingredients together in a small sauce pan. Stir constantly while bringing to a boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl to rest until ready to use.
- In a medium bowl combine ground beef, salt and pepper to taste, and 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce. Mix well, then form into 4 equal sized patties.
- Place pineapple slices and patties on a preheated grill rack. Grill patties over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side until cooked through to desired doneness. When fully cooked, turn off the grill, transfer pineapples to a platter or serving tray, and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger patty (still on the grill). Cover the grill until cheese is melty (about 1-2 minutes).
- Assemble burgers by spreading mayo on the insides of the burger burns. Top bottom half of bun with burger patty, teriyaki sauce, pineapple slices, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. Serve warm.
