Great healthy side dish

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 large daikon radish peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
1 slice ginger
2 c chicken stock
2 Tbsp oyster sauce
4 clove garlic minced
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp white pepper
scallions for garnish
sesame oil for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Place the chicken stock, ginger slice, oyster sauce, garlic, sugar, and white pepper in a pan and bring to a boil.
  • 2. Add the daikon radish and cook until fork tender about 15 to 20 minutes. Garnish with sesame oil and scallions

These taste a lot like new potatoes. The boiling takes the bite and heat out of them. NOTE: I have tried to cook them with meat in a crockpot like a roast and they do not turn out near as well.

1 (8 ounce) bag radishes (or whatever size bag or bunch you want)
2 cups water (enough to cover radishes)

Steps:

  • Trim ends and bad spots off Radishes.
  • Boil radishes in water until fork tender. Best served with butter and a little parsley.

  • Once they are tender, remove them from heat and drain the water. Garnish with some chopped scallion and a little sesame oil. Toss it well and serve!

  • Cover and bring everything to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 20 minutes until the daikon is fork tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Right before serving, add in the chopped scallion, and a few drops of sesame oil (optional). Mix well and serve!
