Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups sliced peeled tart apples
1 unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Place apples in pastry shell. Combine the sugar, flour and cream until smooth; pour over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. , Bake at 400° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375°; bake 35-40 minutes longer or until center is almost set. Cover edges with foil during the last 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning if necessary. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or cold.

The area where we live used to be an apple orchard, so we and our neighbors have apple trees in our yards. I received this recipe from my sister more than 25 years ago, and it's still popular in our family.

¾ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons cinnamon red hot candies
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vinegar
4 ½ cups thinly sliced peeled baking apples
1 Pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine first six ingredients; mix well. Add apples and stir gently to mix. Pour into a pastry-lined pie plate. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Cut slits in top crust; place over apples. Seal and flute edges. Bake at 400 degrees F for 50 minutes or until pastry is golden and apples are tender.
