BLACK AND WHITE FROZEN SHAKES

Steps:

• In a blender, for each shake, combine 3 squirts of chocolate syrup (about 1/4 cup) 1/2 pint vanilla ice cream (about 2 to 3 scoops), 2 cups skim milk and 4 ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and icy. Serve with straws in soda fountain or other tall glass.

MALTED BLACK AND WHITE MILKSHAKES

Steps:

• Place 1 1/2 pints of ice cream, malt powder, and 4 ounces chocolate sauce in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour shakes into 2 tall glasses, leaving a little room at the top. Place an extra scoop of ice cream on top of each shake and drizzle the remaining 2 ounces chocolate sauce over. Garnish with a large dollop of whipped cream and some chocolate shavings. Serve immediately.

BLACK AND WHITE COCKTAIL

Steps:

• Fill a cocktail shaker or small pitcher with ice. Add the cream and vodka. Cover and shake vigorously, or stir, until combined and chilled, about 30 seconds. (In general, by the time the shaker mists up the drink is ready.) Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Slowly pour the chocolate liqueur into the center of the drink to make a layered black and white cocktail. Lay a chocolate swizzle stick across the top rim of the glass. Serve. (Stir the layers together with the swizzle stick before drinking.)

BLACK AND WHITE MILKSHAKE

Steps:

• Combine the milk and chocolate sauce in a blender and blend for 5 seconds. Add the ice cream and blend until smooth, about 10 seconds. Serve immediately.

BLACK AND WHITE STOUT MILKSHAKE

Steps:

• Take the vanilla ice cream out of the freezer for 10 minutes or so to soften. Once barely softened, add to the blender 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, the milk, chocolate syrup, and the chilled stout, pouring slowly so as not to generate lots of beer foam. Add the pinch of salt and blend to a smooth consistency. For a thicker consistency, add more vanilla ice cream.
• Pour the milkshake into 4 glasses and float 1 mini pretzel on top of each glass.
