Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, stir together all of the ingredients: tomato sauce, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, molasses, Worcestershire, smoked paprika, dry mustard, garlic, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Cover with a lid slightly ajar so that the pot is mostly covered to deter splattering, but steam can still escape and the sauce can reduce. Let cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Enjoy immediately or let cool and store for later use.

BIG-BATCH BEEF SAUCE
"I prepare this beef mixture on weekends when I have a little more time," relates Debbie Hodge of Kitscoty, Alberta. "Having it in the freezer is a real time-saver during the week and a great way to serve unexpected guests." She uses the versatile sauce to get a head start on casseroles, stews and several swift suppers she shares here.

SIMPLE BARBECUE SAUCE
Smoked paprika is the secret weapon in this simple barbecue sauce, which goes beautifully with pork and chicken. If you're painting the sauce onto cooking meat, thin it out with water to about a one-to-one ratio, which will keep the sugars from burning too quickly over the fire. Serve the full-strength stuff alongside the finished meat.
