Fortify Marksman. Ranged characters might be at a disadvantage at close range, but with added damage to their arsenal thanks to this Fortify Marksman potion, they'll be able to snipe their enemies from afar and kill them almost instantly without having to worry about a thing.
Fortify Two-Handed. Two-handed weapons being a fairly popular choice, there's also a potion even the most dedicated of warriors should learn to make to further increase their strength.
Invisibility. Invisibility is a fantastic addition to the arsenal of any sneaky player, although keep in mind that this effect is only visual and won't actually do anything about one's footsteps.
Resist Magic. Rather than going for potions that only specialize in one type of elemental magic, it's much better to favor those like Resist Magic, that provide general resistance to any kind of magic regardless of what element and kind it is.
Restore Health. Early on in the game especially, one of the most important potions is that of Restore Health. It's a basic potion that can be found in loot, but will grow scarce as the levels progress.
Cure Disease. Thankfully, diseases aren't a very serious issue in Skyrim. If anything, they're more likely to be profound annoyances as they introduce powerful disadvantages to the player.
Fortify Carry Weight. As with any adventure, those in Skyrim are bound to be filled with loot. While it's recommended to go for the things that are light to carry but have a good price, such as gemstones and rings, sometimes players will want to haul back other important and heavier things, and that's when anything that boosts carry weight is necessary.
Fortify Enchanting. If the enchanting table isn't allowing the player to create powerful enough enchantments, drinking a potion of Fortify Enchanting is just what's needed.
Fortify Lockpicking. Faced with a particularly difficult locked door or an intriguing chest that just won't open? Carrying a few Fortify Lockpicking potions is almost a must for characters who don't otherwise have many perk points dedicated to their lockpicking skill.
Fortify Smithing. Players wanting to ensure they can better improve their gear at the grindstone will benefit from the potion of Fortify Smithing, which will increase a player's smithing skill momentarily.

Deathbell, Giant Lichen, River Betty: Weakness to Poison, Damage Health, Slow. While this one probably isn't going to do much against any Argonians you encounter while wandering across the tundras of Skyrim, it basically encapsulates the experience of poison.
Imp Stool, Orange Dartwig, River Betty: Damage Health, Lingering Damage Health. When looking for a potion that's just absolutely rude, look no further than this absolutely redundant poison.
Falmer Ear, Hanging Moss, Human Heart: Damage Magicka Regen, Magicka, Health, Frenzy. This one is the perfect cocktail for taking care of pesky mages, provided they aren't too far away for a poisoned weapon to hit.
Spriggan Sap, Saber Cat Tooth, Snowberries: Fortify Smithing And Enchanting. This one is about as close as any of the potions in the game get to being too good.
Dragon's Tongue, Fly Amanita, And Scaly Pholiota: Resist Fire, Fortify Illusion And Two-Handed, Regenerate Stamina. While the whole Fortify Illusion effect of the potion doesn't really fit with the rest of the effects of this one, it doesn't really matter.
Salmon Roe, Histcarp, And Jazbay Grapes: Water-Breathing, Fortify Magicka And Magicka Regen, Restore Stamina. This potion is pretty much a double-whammy.
Beehive Husk, Hawk Feathers, Rock Warbler Egg: Fortify Sneak, One-Handed, And Light Armor. Since bows are technically under the Archery skill in Skyrim, not included as either one-handed or two-handed, they don't benefit from this potion.
Giant's Toe, Wheat, Creep Cluster Or River Betty: Damage Stamina Regen, Fortify Health And Carry Weight. Before the release of the intriguing Hearthfire DLC, this was the most expensive potion in the game.
Mudcrab Chitin, Blisterwert, Charred Skeever Hide: Cure Disease, Resist Poison, Restore Health And Stamina. If only a potion like this existed in the dreaded Blightown area of Dark Souls, the Ashen One would be able to navigate it easily.
Bear Claws, Eye Of Sabre Cat, Hanging Moss: Damage Magicka Regen And Magicka, Fortify One-Handed And Health, Restore Magicka. This is one of the most valuable potions in the game, as it has five effects (most have four effects at best).
