Dressing for Pasta or Potato Salad image

This is the sauce my mother uses for both her potato and pasta salads (the mayo based ones anyway). So good, rich and delicious. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup real hellmann mayonnaise
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

Stir all ingredients together.
Mix in appropriate amount of potatoes/pasta and veggies such as chopped olives, capers, onion, green peppers, etc.

Ingredients

½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup sour cream
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ cup diced onion
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

Mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion and salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to toss with potatoes.

This recipe can be made into either potato or macaroni salad; the creamy and tangy dressing, sweet pickles, and pimentos works with both ingredients.

Ingredients

For the Dressing:
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup Miracle Whip Salad dressing
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
For the Salad:
8 cups cooked elbow macaroni or cubed potatoes, cooled
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2/3 cup finely chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped sweet pickles
2 tablespoons diced pimiento

Steps:

Gather the ingredients.
In a medium bowl, add the ingredients for the dressing. Mix well to combine.
In a large serving bowl, combine the cold macaroni or potatoes with the chopped onion, celery, sweet pickles, and diced pimento.
Add the dressing to the potato or pasta mixture and stir gently until all of the ingredients are well coated.
Cover and refrigerate until serving time.
Enjoy.

- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 /4 cup vinegar
- 1 /2 cup sugar
- 1 to 2 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 2 cup miracle whip
- 2 cup real mayo

Steps:

Mix together the eggs, vinegar & sugar in a med. size pan, Stir & cook on low till thicken, Stir constantly as the eggs will scramble easily, this is a NO NO
Remove from heat, add the mustard, Allow to cool slightly the add the miracle whip & mayo. Mix with your favorite potato or Macaroni Salad. Yum Yum

Scrub potatoes clean. Dice into big bite size pieces. Place in sauce pan with plenty of water to cover the potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt. Boil for 12-15 minutes or until potatoes are knife tender but not mushy.
To make Potato Salad Dressing, in a wide large mixing bowl, add all of the dressing ingredients - mayonnaise, yogurt, minced garlic, minced chipotle, Dijon mustard, lime juice (or vinegar if using), hot sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp of black pepper. Mix well. Taste and adjust salt and lime juice.
To assemble salad, add warm potatoes (boiled and drained) into the bowl with dressing, followed by rest of salad ingredients - red onion, green onion, cherry tomatoes, black bean, corn, and cilantro. Gently mix to coat everything in dressing sitting at the bottom of the bowl. Taste and adjust salt and lime juice.
Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with more cilantro, sliced green onion. Serve with side of tortilla chips and lime wedges. Enjoy!
