Onion and Bacon Cheese Sandwiches image

Give everyday grilled cheese a boost! Top sandwiches with cooked bacon pieces and sliced onion.

4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
8 slices (3/4 oz each) Cheddar cheese
8 slices Vienna bread, 1/2 inch thick

Steps:

  • In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook bacon over medium heat about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until almost cooked. Add onion. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, turning occasionally, until tender. Remove bacon and onion from skillet. Reserve 1 tablespoon drippings in skillet.
  • To make each sandwich, layer cheese, bacon and onion between 2 bread slices. Place 2 sandwiches in drippings in skillet. Cover and cook over medium-low heat 3 to 5 minutes, turning once, until bread is crisp and golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.

1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
8 slices sourdough bread
8 slices Swiss cheese (3/4 ounce each)
8 slices cheddar cheese (3/4 ounce each)
8 slices tomato
4 slices sweet onion
8 cooked bacon strips
2 tablespoons butter, softened

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and mustard; spread over four bread slices. Layer with cheeses, tomato, onion and bacon. Top with remaining bread. Butter outsides of sandwiches., On a griddle, toast sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown and cheese is melted, 2-3 minutes on each side.

2 cups mayonnaise
4 ounces bacon bits
1 bunch green onion, sliced
2 loaves thin whole wheat bread

Steps:

  • Mix together the first three ingredients: refrigerate at least 8 hours.
  • Spread mayonaisse mixture on bread, trim crusts if desired* cut bread in forths diagonally.
  • *hint*when trimming crust from bread; use electric knife.
  • Do the same for mutiple sandwiches.
  • Stack, and let knife glide down.
  • No more ragged or torn bread.

16 bacon slices
1 medium white onion, thinly sliced
4 oval Mexican sandwich rolls (bolillos) or other sandwich kaiser rolls, split lengthwise
4 teaspoons Mexican crema, sour cream, or mayonnaise
2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
1/2 cup finely shredded lettuce, any kind
4 teaspoons prepared salsa

Steps:

  • 1. In a nonstick skillet, cook the bacon until brown and crisp. Drain on paper towels. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the fat from the skillet. Cook the onion in the skillet, stirring frequently, until it softens and begins to brown, about 4 minutes. Remove the onion to a plate. 2. Spread 1 teaspoon of crema on the bottom half of each roll. Put 4 slices of bacon on each roll then layer with 1/4 of the onion, tomato, and lettuce. Spoon 1 teaspoon salsa on top of each roll, and cover each torta with the top half of the roll.   • Combine first 4 ingredients.
  • Unroll crescent rolls and separate into 8 rectangles; firmly press perforations of triangle to seal into a rectangle.
  • Spread butter mixture evenly over dough.
  • Roll up each rectangle, beginning with short side; pinch seam to seal.
  • Cut each into 4 slices.
  • Place pinwheels on ungreased baking sheet; flatten slightly.

3 -4 slices bacon
1 slice American cheese
onion, chopped very fine
mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Cook bacon and set aside to drain.
  • Meanwhile toast 2 slices of bread on one or both sides.
  • Put mayonnaise on both sides of bread.
  • Assemble starting with bacon, onion and top with cheese on of the slices of bread.
  • Put in broiler and melt cheese. As soon as you take out put the top on the hot cheese to seal.
