BOW-TIE PASTA SALAD
My aunt and mom created this recipe. It is a family favorite and a great item to bring to picnics and potlucks.

Steps:
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Cook the bow-tie pasta at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes; drain.
- Quickly rinse the cooked pasta in cold water to stop it from continuing to cook; drain.
- Mix the cooled pasta, broccoli, tomatoes, sliced green onions, celery, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper in a large bowl.
- Gently stir the salad dressing, Parmesan cheese, sugar, basil, and salt in a bowl until evenly mixed.
- Pour the salad dressing mixture over the pasta mixture; gently toss to coat evenly.
- Refrigerate 3 hours to overnight before serving.

BABY BOW TIE AND WALNUT PASTA SALAD

- In skillet toast 1/2 cup of pasta over medium heat stirring often until light brown about 5 min In saucepan of boiling salted water cook toasted and remaining pasta until al dente. 7-8 min Drain & rince, set aside. In skillet heat vegetable oil over medium heat cook onion until softened about 2 min. Add walnuts cook 2 min stir in green pepper & cook 1 min. Pour over pasta, let cool. In small bowl whisk together olive oil lemon juice salt and pepper pour over pasta mixture. Add chopped coriander and toss. Garnish with cherry tomatoes and coriander sprigs.

- Toast 1/2 cup pasta. (I prefer using the microwave for toasting)spread pasta on a microwave safe plate. Microwave on high checking and tossing in 1 minute intervals until golden. In saucepan of boiling salted water cook toasted and remaining pasta until al dente, 7 - 8 min. Drain and rinse. Set aside in large bowl. In skillet heat vegetable oil over medium heat: cook onion, stirring often until softened about 2 min. Add walnuts cook 2 min stir in green pepper & cook 1 more min. Pour over pasta. Add chopped coriander. Toss to combine. In small bowl whisk together oilive oil, lemon juice, salt & pepper pour over pasta mixture. Toss to combine. BOW TIES WITH WALNUTS, BUTTER & SAGE
You will want to save some of the pasta cooking water because it will be used to extend the butter-cheese sauce. Steps:
- Place walnuts in large, dry nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Cook 4-5 minutes, until toasted, shaking pan constantly.
- Remove walnuts, set aside.
- Cook pasta in boiling salted water according to package directions, about 10 minutes.
- When pasta is almost done, melt butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Add sage, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
- Cook a minute or two to blend flavors.
- Remove from heat.
- Drain pasta, reserving 1/2 cup pasta cooking water, then add pasta to butter in skillet.
- Gradually add pasta water.
- Stir in cheese and toss to combine.
- Garnish with toasted nuts and serve.
