THE PERFECT MARGARITA

The Perfect Margarita image

Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

THE AUTHENTIC MARGARITA

The Authentic Margarita image

Tired of sugar headaches and merciless hangovers? Impress all your friends and try this healthier, authentic margarita recipe this National Margarita Day.

Provided by Maria Daniela Toporek

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 oz. tequila blanco
1.5 oz. Cointreau
7-10 Limes
4 oz. natural lime juice freshly squeezed
Salt
2 cups ice

Steps:

  • Use a citrus squeezer to squeeze 4 oz. of lime juice into a cup and set it aside.
  • Add 3 oz. of tequila and 1.5 oz of Cointreau into a blender. Follow that up with the lime juice from the previous step, 2 cups of ice and blend it!
  • (Optional) Add Salt Around the Rim: Now to set up your glasses, cut a lime into small wedges and use one of them to rub a small amount of lime juice around the rim of your class. The lime juice will help the salt stick around the edges.
  • Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of salt into a small plate. Grab the glass you just rubbed lime juice on and hold angle it so you can rotate the rim and make sure you've added salt around it evenly.
  • After salting the glasses, finally pour the margarita into your glass. Add a lime wedge to your glass as the final garnish, invite friends, and say cheers.

CLASSIC MEXICAN MARGARITA

Classic Mexican Margarita image

This classic Mexican margarita is the perfect blend of fresh lime juice, blanco tequila, simple syrup and triple sec, all served over ice in a chilled, salted cocktail glass.

Provided by Andres Carnalla

Categories     Beverage

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 lime (cut into wedges )
1 tbsp sea salt or Kosher salt (coarse)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh ice
2 ozs. blanco tequila (also called white or silver tequila) (100% agave)
1 1/2 limes (cut in halves)
1 1/2 ozs. orange liqueur (triple sec)
2 tbsp simple syrup (See recipe below.)
Lime wedges or slices for garnish

Steps:

  • On a dish or cutting board, pour and flatten a pile of coarse salt like sea salt or Kosher salt. Don't use table salt, as it will clump up and make your drink very salty.
  • Cut a lime in half. Reserve one half for the margarita and cut the remaining half into two wedges. Run a lime wedge along the entire rim of the glass. Be sure it's wet enough so the salt can stick.
  • Invert your glass and press into the salt so it sticks to the rim.
  • Place the salted glass upright into the refrigerator to chill as you mix up your margarita.
  • Pour the sugar into a deep sauce pan.
  • Pour the water over the sugar.
  • Place sugar mixture on the stove and set the heat to medium-high.
  • Use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture constantly so the sugar dissolves faster.
  • Once the sugar completely dissolves, remove from the heat.
  • Pour the syrup into a container. You should end up with about one cup of natural syrup. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the syrup for the margarita. Cover and store the rest for another use. The syrup will keep for up to three days.
  • Add ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. If you have big pieces, you can bang them on a hard surface to break them up a bit, but you do want to keep the pieces on the larger side. Ice that's too small will quickly melt and water down your drink.
  • Squeeze the juice from 1 1/2 limes into a small cup or bowl and remove any seeds. Pour the fresh lime juice into the shaker.
  • Next add the sweetener, tequila and triple sec.
  • Place the top back on your shaker and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds to combine.
  • Remove the chilled cocktail glass from the refrigerator.
  • Carefully pour the contents of the shaker into the glass, including the ice.
  • Garnish with a slice of lime.

AUTHENTIC PIZZA MARGHERITA

Authentic Pizza Margherita image

Inspired by the pizza at Bar Del Corso, this Pizza Margherita features tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil, with just a hint of sea salt.

Provided by Allrecipes

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Pizza Recipes

Time 1h45m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 pinch white sugar
¼ cup flour for dusting
2 cups pizza sauce
20 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
20 leaves fresh basil
olive oil
sea salt to taste

Steps:

  • Stir flour and 1 teaspoon salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Mix water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand until yeast begins to form a creamy foam, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir half the flour mixture into yeast mixture until no dry spots remain. Stir in remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. When dough pulls together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Lightly oil a large bowl, then place dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a light cloth and let rise in a warm place (80 to 95 degrees F (27 to 35 degrees C)) until doubled in volume, about 1 hour. Punch dough down, divide into 4 equal pieces, and form each into a ball.
  • Preheat oven with a pizza stone to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
  • Stretch out and pat 1 dough ball to form a circle 10 to 12 inches in diameter. Place dough on a lightly floured pizza peel. Top with 1/2 cup of tomato sauce and spread to cover within an inch of the edge of the dough. Arrange 5 slices of mozzarella cheese on top of the tomato sauce, then place 5 basil leaves on top. Drizzle pizza with 1 tablespoon olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt to taste. Repeat for 3 remaining dough balls.
  • Slide each pizza onto the pizza stone in the preheated oven. Bake until cheese is bubbly and the underside of the crust is golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes.
