APPLE BROWNIES

Apple Brownies image

This was my Mom's recipe. Easy and quick to make. Apples and walnuts are packed into a cinnamon spiced blonde brownie. Always a hit when I bring it to parties. Very moist and great to make in the fall when apples are plentiful.

8 tablespoons (1 stick; 113 g) salted butter, melted and cooled, plus more for greasing pan
1 cup (210 g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (60 g) chopped walnuts
2 large firm-sweet apples, such as Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious (about 1 pound total), peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Special equipment:
11- by 7-inch baking dish (brownie pan)

Any sweet, firm variety of apple will work in this recipe, which was developed by John Bunker's friend Amy Traverso. Recipe adapted from " The Apple Lover's Cookbook," by Amy Traverso.
