Plentiful layers of bread, ham, pie filling and more in this sweet-savory dish remind me of lasagna- only for breakfast. I lost count long ago of the number of recipe requests I've received.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 packages (12-1/2 ounces each) frozen French toast
8 ounces thinly sliced fully cooked ham
2-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
1 cup granola cereal with raisins
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Prepare French toast according to package directions. Place six slices in an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with ham, 2 cups cheese and remaining French toast. Spread pie filling over top; sprinkle with granola. , Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese; bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. In a small bowl, combine sour cream and brown sugar; serve with French toast. Refrigerate leftovers.

4 slices sourdough bread
6 slices sharp Cheddar, about 3 ounces
Half apple, cored and thinly sliced
2 tablespoon unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Put 2 slices of bread on a cutting board or work surface. Top each with two slices of cheese, the apple slices, a third slice of cheese and another piece of bread. Press down lightly.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sandwiches and cook until the bread toasts and the cheese is slightly melted, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip with a spatula and add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan. Cook until the other side is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 3 minutes more, adjusting the heat as needed to keep the bread from burning before the cheese melts.?

2 slices thick-cut bacon
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 yellow onion, sliced thin
3 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature
2 thick slices hearty multi-grain bread
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
3 ounces grated white Cheddar
1/2 Granny Smith apple, sliced
1 tablespoon whole-grain Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • In an 8-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, about 5 minutes. Tear in half and set aside.
  • Into the same skillet, add the brown sugar, onions and 1 tablespoon of the butter. Cook, stirring as needed, until the onions are golden, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Build the grilled cheese by spreading one piece of bread with the mayonnaise. Sprinkle half of the grated cheese on top, followed by the onions. Place the apple slices and bacon on top of the onions, then add the rest of the cheese. Spread the other slice of bread with the mustard and put it mustard-side down on top of the cheese. Spread the outside of the top bread slice with 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Transfer the sandwich to the skillet over medium-low heat, butter-side down. Spread the top of the sandwich with the remaining tablespoon butter. Toast each side of the sandwich until golden on the outside and the cheese is melted, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Cut in half and serve.

2 apples, thinly sliced
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1-1/2 cups KRAFT Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Place bread slices in single layer on baking sheet. Bake 4 min. on each side or until lightly toasted on both sides.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in medium skillet on medium-high heat. Add apples; cook 2 to 3 min. or until slightly softened. Stir in sugar and cinnamon; cook and stir 2 min. or until apples are tender.
  • Sprinkle half the cheese evenly over toast slices; top with apples and remaining cheese. Bake 2 to 3 min. or until cheese is melted.

1 ½ tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon herbes de Provence, or to taste
4 slices day-old artisan-style bread
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup fresh spinach, or to taste
½ Granny Smith apple, cored and thinly sliced
4 slices Cheddar cheese, or to taste

Steps:

  • Whisk eggs, milk, and herbes de Provence together in a bowl until smooth. Dip 1 slice bread in the egg mixture until evenly soaked.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; cook the dipped bread until slightly browned, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Transfer bread to a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat dipping bread in egg mixture and cooking in the skillet with remaining slices.
