BACON-CHEESE APPETIZER PIE
I first made this for an open house three years ago and everybody liked it. It's easy to make and tastes delicious. Cheesecake is popular in these parts-it's fun to have it for an appetizer instead of dessert for a change. -Joanie Elbourn, Gardner, Massachusetts

Steps:
- Roll the pastry into a 13-1/2-in. circle. Fit into the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9-in. springform pan. Lightly prick the bottom. Bake at 450° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly., In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add eggs and milk; beat until smooth. Add cheese, onions, bacon, salt, pepper and cayenne; mix well. Pour into the crust., Bake at 350° until set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 40-45 minutes. Cool 20 minutes. Remove sides of pan. Cut into thin slices; serve warm with crackers.

HOLIDAY APPETIZER PIE
My pastor's wife in NY served this at their annual open house and my husband loved it. I make it when we tailgate on the plains in Auburn. Must be served warm with a great cracker.

Steps:
- 1. Blend together cream cheese and milk. Mix well.
- 2. Stir in dried beef, green pepper and onion. Mix well. Stir in sour cream and nuts.
- 3. Spoon into a 9-inch pie plate or shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Bake at 350-degrees for 15 minutes.
- 4. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot with crackers.

- In a food processor, place the flour and baking powder. Pulse for one second to combine. Add the butter and pulse for a few seconds at a time, until the mixture has a coarse and grainy texture. Add the egg, water and vinegar, pulsing a few seconds at a time, until a ball begins to form. Remove the dough from the processor. Form into a ball with your hands, dust with flour and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.
- In a skillet, brown the onions and garlic in the oil. Add the mushrooms and cook until their water has evaporated. Add the ground pork and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until cooked through. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
