AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD LEMON VARIATIONS

Steps:

• 1. Use lemon pudding and add 1/4 cup of poppy seeds. I bake these in a very small muffin pan for about 20 - 25 minutes. ~~~~~or~~~~~ For lemon bread, I substitute lemon pudding mix and lemon extract, omit the cinnamon and nuts, and add poppy seeds. ~~~or~~~ Lemon Amish Friendship Bread Use 2 sm. boxes of instant lemon pudding instead on the vanilla pudding, replace poppy seeds for the cinnamon, & use lemon peel instead of the vanilla. Bake for about 1 1/2 hrs. Very Good! ~~~or~~~ I love to make mine with dried pineapple and lemon instant pudding. ~~~or~~~ Lemon-Poppyseed Variation: Use lemon pudding mix instead of vanilla pudding. Add 2-tsp. Lemon extract instead of vanilla. Eliminate cinnamon. Add 1/4 cup poppyseed. ~~~or~~~ Lemon-Poppyseed Friendship Bread Use two small pkgs. of lemon pudding rather than the vanilla and lemon flavoring in place of vanilla flavoring. Add one tablespoon of poppyseed. This is excellent for making lemon-poppyseed muffins. ~~~or~~~ Lemon Coconut - Delete cinnamon, nuts and vanilla. Use lemon flavored pudding, add 1-tsp. lemon extract and 2 cups coconut. ~~~or~~~ Lemon Walnut Friendship Bread: Omit Cinnamon, Vanilla Pudding in basic recipe and add 1 teaspoon lemon extract, 1 package lemon pudding and one cup of chopped walnuts. • 1. I've found that a cup of dried cranberries and a tsp of orange zest, along with a cup of chopped nuts, makes a nice holiday variation to the cake! ~~~or~~~ I used the basic cinnamon amish bread recipe and added 1 cup of craisins (dried cranberries) as well as the pecans. ~~~or~~~ We add Craisins(dried sweetened cranberries) and chocolate covered raisins to our mix. We also like the bread with chocolate pudding instead of vanilla. ~~~~~or~~~~ cranberry mint chip ~ a cup of dried cranberries along with a cup of chopped After Eight chocolate after dinner mints or 1 cup chocolate mint chips
• 2. white chocolate cranberry ~ omit vanilla pudding. Add white chocolate instant pudding and 1 cup cranberries

Steps:

• 1. Variation 1 Orange-Cranberry: Use vanilla pudding and replace 1/2 cup milk with orange juice, 1 Tbsp. orange peel instead of vanilla and 2 cups chopped frozen cranberries. I have found this variation bakes better in the upper 3rd of my oven Variation 2 Lemon-Cranberry: Use 1 small pkg. lemon pudding and add 2 cups chopped frozen cranberries. Variation 3 Cherry Vanilla: Use vanilla pudding, add 1 can tart red cherries in water, drained, and add almond flavoring instead of vanilla. Variation 4 Chocolate Cherry: Use chocolate pudding, add 1 can tart red cherries in water, drained, and add almond flavoring instead of vanilla. Variation 5 Apple Cinnamon: Use butterscotch pudding and add 2 cups chopped, peeled, apple. Variation 6 Caramel Pecan: Use butterscotch pudding and add 1 cup chopped pecans Variation 7 Banana Walnut: Use banana cream pudding, 2 chopped banana and chopped 1 cup walnuts.

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 2 (9x5 inch) loaf pans.
• In a large bowl, combine the Amish bread starter with oil, eggs, 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour into prepared loaf pans.
• Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes.

Steps:

• 1. Preheat the oven to 325F 2. Grease two large loaf pans 3. In a bowl, mix an additional ½ cup sugar and 1 ½ tsp cinnamon 4. Dust the greased pans with sugar/cinnamon mixture 5. Pour the batter evenly into the pans and sprinkle the remaining mixture on the top 6. Steps:

• 1. Miscellaneous Variations Apple caramel bread ~ make Friendship Bread with dried apples and caramel instant pudding (makes it like caramel apples). ~~~or~~~ Last night I tried 3/4 cup white chocolate chips, 3/4 cup macadamia nuts and used cheesecake pudding. Delicious!!! ~~~or~~~ Substitute 2 tablespoons molasses for equal amount of sugar and add spices to make gingerbread. ~~~or~~~ throw in a box of chopped dates and a cup of chopped pecans. Then, instead of using two loaf pans, I bake it in a bundt pan. ~~~~or~~~ add 1 cup of drained crushed pineapple, 1 cup shredded coconut and pistachio pudding (instead of vanilla). Very yummy. ~~~or~~~ Great bread (cake) !!!! My neighbor gave me a starter before leaving for vacation... I've gained 5 lbs. but it's worth every bite. I used 1/2 cup nuts and 1/2 cup white raisins; to die for. ~~~or~~~ use 1 small box of orange jello, 1 c. drained mandarin oranges ~~~or~~~ use 1 small box of strawberry jello, 1 c. thawed strawberries. These are very good and I get raving reviews about them . ~~~or~~~ Use Cheesecake pudding instead of vanilla pudding and add chopped maraschino cherries (about 6 with some juice). This tastes great and looks very festive. ~~~or~~~ " butter pecan bread~ omit vanilla pudding and add butter pecan pudding and 1 cup pecans ~~~or~~~ Blue/raspberry bread add 1/2 cup Blueberries and 1/2 cup raspberries ~~~or~~~ add candied fruit mix and walnuts and almonds.
