Amish Bacon Treat Recipes

HOMEMADE HOT BACON DRESSING

Steps:

• Preheat large skillet, lightly greased to med/high.
• Mix all ingredients, except for bacon, in a mixing bowl.
• Pour ingredients from mixing bowl into skillet and heat just to boiling.
• Add crumbled bacon.
• Add flour or cornstarch to thicken to about the consistency of gravy, and it's done.
• Traditionally, this was served over lettuce, endive, or dandelions

AMISH BACON TREAT

Steps:

• Melt butter in a cast iron skillet over low heat.
• Crush crackers on a plate.
• In a separate bowl, beat the eggs very well.
• Then dip bacon slices into the beaten eggs, completely coating on each side.
• Then roll the bacon slices into the cracker crumbs so that each side is completely covered in crumbs.
• Put into buttered skillet over low heat and brown each crumb-covered bacon slice on each side.
• Serve warm.
• Note: if you like your bacon very crispy, fry the bacon before dipping it in eggs and rolling it in crumbs.
• If you like your bacon more on the "rare" side, just dip slices in eggs, roll in crumbs and brown.

AMISH CURE FOR BACON

Steps:

• Cut side of bacon in 4th's to fit a 5 gallon bucket. Fix brine and soak in cool place 5-6 days. Freeze and slice when half thawed.
