All-Purpose Baking Mix image

Stir together this All-Purpose Baking Mix recipe so you're never more than minutes away from a tasty batch of waffles, pancakes, biscuits, or muffins. To add a bit more nutrition to recipes using all purpose baking mix, trade whole wheat for all-purpose flour.

  • Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle.

6 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
3/4 cup shortening

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a food processor combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Pulse for 15 seconds. Add the shortening and pulse until the mixture is similar in texture to cornmeal. If you do not have a food processor shift together the flour, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl. Cut in the shortening with a fork or pastry blender until the mixture is similar in texture to cornmeal.
  • Use in recipes that call for Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix.

  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; set aside. Preheat waffle iron to desired temperature.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Stir in the milk, butter and vanilla. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture; beat until blended.
  • Ladle the batter into a preheated waffle iron. Cook the waffles until golden and crisp. Serve immediately.
