Ingredients

4 tsp granulated sugar
2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp canola or vegetable oil
1/4 tsp vanilla
2 tsp water
4 tsp flour
a small handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Steps:

In a small microwave-safe bowl, add granulated sugar, cocoa, water, oil, and vanilla. Mix all of the ingredients with a fork.
Mix in flour and stir until just combined.
Add the chocolate chips and stir to combine.
Microwave on high for 30-40 seconds.
Optional, add ice cream or whipped cream and serve immediately. The brownie is best warm.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons melted butter or 2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons milk or 2 tablespoons chocolate milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash salt
2 tablespoons white sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
4 tablespoons flour
to make triple chocolate add chocolate milk, chocolate chips, and serve with chocolate syrup

Steps:

In a coffee mug, add water/milk, melted butter/oil, a dash of salt and vanilla extract. Whisk well.
Add cocoa powder, whisk well. Add sugar, whisk well. Add flour, whisk well.
Microwave for 60 seconds. Center should be slightly molten. Careful not to overcook.
Enjoy with a spoon. Careful, brownie will be hot.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Steps:

Add 2 tablespoons of butter or oil.
Melt butter.
Add 2 tablespoons of water.
Add a pinch of salt.
Add cocoa or chocolate powder (like Nesquik) (add as much as you want).
Add 1 tablespoon of sugar for chocolate powder (Nesquik) OR 2 tablespoons of sugar for cocoa powder.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (OPTIONAL).
Stir it up.
Microwave it for 2 minutes.

For Brownie in a Mug
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
3 1/4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
6 tablespoons regular or dairy-free
2 tablespoons any neutral vegetable oil (I used sunflower oil)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
For serving (optional):
Chocolate walnuts
Whipped cream of vanilla ice cream
Berries of your choice
Chocolate or caramel sauce
NOTE: Some ingredients can be replaced with their vegan counterparts.

Steps:

In a microwave-safe mug, add flour, cocoa, sugar, vanilla, salt, baking powder, oil, and milk.
Whisk briskly until you get a smooth lump-free batter.
Add in the 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, and 1 tablespoon chocolate chips.
Mix again until everything is combined. Clean the edge of the cup.
Sprinkle with some chocolate chips/chunks. Using a paper napkin, clean the inner edge of the cup.
Cook in a microwave for about 2 minutes at full power. (My microwave is 1000 watts. So you may need to adjust the time. Start with 1 minute 20 seconds, and then an additional 20-30 seconds or until it gets cooked.)
At this point, the top of the brownie is cooked perfectly and is no longer wet. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before eating.
Top with toppings like chopped walnuts, whipped cream, berries, and chocolate sauce. Enjoy it warm.
