HOT SPICED SANGRIA



Hot Spiced Sangria image

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 (750 milliliter) bottles Rioja (Spanish red wine)
1 cup brandy
1 bag frozen cherries
1 bag frozen peaches
1 orange, sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 cup simple syrup, recipe follows
Orange peel, for garnish
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 orange, zested

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Put setting on HIGH for 1 hour. Reduce to warm to hold temperature. Ladle into glasses from slow cooker. Be sure to include some fruit in the glasses. Garnish with orange peel.
  • Combine the sugar, water and zest in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer. Stirring occasionally, simmer for 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.

1 bottle Spanish red table wine
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/4 cup brandy
3 tablespoons sugar
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Combine wine, juice, brandy and sugar in a medium saucepan over low heat and heat until the sugar has melted. Add the orange and lemon slices and let simmer for 5 minutes. Serve in heat resistant glasses.

12 cups cranberry-raspberry juice
4 cups orange juice
1 1/2 liters merlot
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
4 oranges, sliced (leave peel on)
2 lemons, sliced (leave peel on)
1 cup craisins

Steps:

  • Place cloves in a cheesecloth bag or wrap and tie in cheesecloth to prevent your guests from getting pieces of clove in their drink!
  • Heat all ingredients in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved.
  • Serve warm adding some fruit to each glass.
  • Note: if it's too hot it may crack your glass.

1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1 bottle dry red wine
1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur
4 lemon slices
4 orange slices, 1 slice stuck with 4 cloves

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar, the juice, and 1/2 cup water, and simmer the mixture, stirring for 5 minutes. Stir in the wine, the liqueur, the lemon slices, and the orange slices and heat the mixture over moderate heat, stirring until it is hot. Discard the lemon and orange slices and divide the mixture among 4 heated mugs.
