Versatile Savoury Tart image

This is one of those quick, "empty your store cupboard, and it just works" recipes. Perfect for when you have unexpected guests. Great with a salad in summer, and kids eat this quite happily.

3 slices diced bread
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk
1 (6 ounce) can tuna
1 (6 ounce) can mushrooms
1 cup grated cheese
3 beaten eggs
2 tablespoons grated onions
herbs
salt
pepper

Steps:

  • Heat bread, butter and milk until soggy.
  • Do not overcook.
  • Add other ingredients and mix.
  • Place in greased pie dish and bake at 190 deg C for 30 minutes.
  • Instead of tuna, use a tin of corned beef or chopped viennas (wieners).
  • Leave out mushrooms if desired.

Easy Crustless Spinach Savoury Tart image

A very easy to put together tart.Ideal for a simple supper with a nice tomato Salad. Instead of spinach - try mushrooms or asparagus OR add canned tuna OR chopped cooked chicken to the basic savoury tart mixture.

1 (300 g) packet spinach, blanched and chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
250 ml grated cheddar cheese
1 (410 g) can evaporated milk
4 eggs
60 ml flour
10 ml mustard powder
7 ml salt
5 ml pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 180 °C.
  • Grease a 22 cm pie dish.
  • Place spinach, onion and cheese into the pie dish.
  • Combine remaining ingredients and pour into pie dish.
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until set.
