EASY BROCCOLI CHEDDAR PASTA BAKE



Easy broccoli cheddar pasta bake image

4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1½ cups milk
1 cup cream
2 tsp thyme
2 cups grated cheddar cheese (+ 1 cup for topping)
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper (to taste )
500 g (1lb) pasta
500 g (1lb) broccoli florets

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook for 7-10 minutes. The pasta should be quite firm still as it will continue cooking in the oven. Add the broccoli florets and cook for the last 2 minutes of cooking. Reserve 1 cup of cooking water and drain.
  • While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a deep pan or saucepan then whisk in the flour.
  • Cook for 1-2 minutes then whisk in the garlic powder and thyme.
  • Add the milk, stirring/whisking continuously, until smooth. Cook over medium heat until the sauce has thickened and the flour has cooked through.
  • Stir in the cream, grated cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  • Combine the pasta and broccoli with the cheese sauce. Add a little pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and top with grated cheddar cheese. Place in a preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven, allow to rest for 5 minutes then serve.

A cheesy, savory broccoli cheese pasta bake made with Parmesan and Gruyere cheeses! It's a warm and comforting casserole everyone will love.

8 ounces uncooked penne pasta (or other short pasta noodle)
4 cups fresh broccoli florets
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons garlic, minced or pressed
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup shredded gruyere cheese, divided
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F, and lightly grease a 2.5 quart baking dish. Set aside.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, and cook the pasta for 5-6 minutes. Add the broccoli florets and cook for an additional 1 minute. The pasta should be al dente, and the broccoli should be lightly blanched.
  • Drain the pasta and broccoli, rinse under cold water, drain again, and set aside. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then, add the garlic, salt, basil, and oregano, and whisk to combine.
  • Adjust the heat to low. While continuing to whisk, slowly pour in the heavy cream and broth. Continue whisking until wisps of steam begin to rise from the liquid. Then, add half the Gruyere and half the Parmesan cheese a little at a time, whisking between each addition until the cheese is melted. Remove from heat.
  • Transfer the pasta, broccoli, and sauce to the prepared baking dish. Stir to combine. Top with the remaining cheese. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.

2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans broccoli cheese soup
1/2 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups crushed breadcrumbs
1 cup butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Cook and drain pasta.
  • Mix broccoli cheese soup with milk.
  • Stir in 1 stick of melted butter and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese into soup mix.
  • Gently mix the pasta with the soup mix.
  • Spray baking dish with non stick spray.
  • Pour pasta into baking dish.
  • Top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Mix bread crumbs with 1 stick of melted butter and place on pasta.

4 cups broccoli florets
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with onion and garlic
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3 cups shredded light cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Coat a 9-by-11- inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions.
  • One minute before it is cooked through, add the broccoli.
  • Finish cooking and drain.
  • Toss pasta and broccoli with tomatoes, then cheeses.
  • Pour into the baking dish.
  • Cover loosely with foil, and place in the center of the oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

3/4 lb thin spaghetti
1 lb Velveeta cheese
24 ounces chopped frozen broccoli
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup milk

Steps:

  • Cook pasta as directed and drain well.
  • Thaw broccoli and drain well.
  • Melt butter in 10 inch fry pan add onion and cook for 10 min on medium heat, add broccoli and mix well.
  • Slice Velveeta cheese.
  • Grease bottom on 13x9 pan with butter.
  • Put 1/2 cooked pasta in bottom of pan top with 1/2 Velveeta cheese slices add 1/2 mixture of broccoli.
  • Add remaining pasta,and broccoli then top with remaining cheese.
  • Pour milk over top and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Bake 350°F for 40-45 minutes.

1 bag (12 oz) frozen broccoli cuts
8 slices bacon
1/2 cup sliced shallots
6 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
4 cups milk
12 oz white Cheddar cheese, shredded (3 cups)
8 oz Gouda cheese, shredded (2 cups)
20 round buttery crackers, coarsely crushed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. Cook and drain macaroni as directed on package, using minimum cook time. Meanwhile, cook broccoli as directed on package.
  • In 4-quart Dutch oven, cook bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels. Crumble bacon; set aside. Reserve 2 tablespoons drippings. Cook shallots in bacon drippings over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until mixture boils and thickens.
  • Remove from heat. Add 2 cups of the Cheddar cheese and the Gouda cheese; stir until melted. Stir in cooked macaroni and broccoli and crumbled bacon. Spoon mixture into baking dish. Sprinkle with crushed crackers and remaining 1 cup Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake uncovered 15 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
