1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 teaspoon ginger
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 lbs ground chuck
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Stir together first 4 ingredients.
  • Stir 2 teaspoons soy sauce mixture into mayonnaise, and set aside.
  • Combine 1/3 cup soy sauce mixture, beef, salt, and pepper; shape into 6 patties.
  • Brush with remaining soy sauce mixture.
  • Grill over medium-high heat (350°-400°) 4 minutes on each side or until beef is no longer pink.
  • Coat cut sides of buns with cooking spray, and grill, cut side down, 2 minutes.
  • Spread buns evenly with mayonnaise mixture, and fill with the patties.

1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c canned water chestnuts, finely chopped
3 green onions, minced
1/4 c soy sauce, low sodium
1/4 c orange juice (or dry sherry)
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 Tbsp dark molasses
1/8 tsp ground ginger

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the beef, water chestnuts and green onions together.
  • 2. Shape the mixture into 6 patties, each about 3/4-inch thick. Place the patties in an ungreased 10 X 6 X 1 3/4-inch baking dish.
  • 3. Mix the remaining ingredients together and pour over the patties. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, turning the patties once.
  • 4. Remove the patties from the marinade. Broil or grill the patties 4-inches from the heat, turning once, until the desired doneness is reached, about 10 to 15 minutes. Brush frequently with the leftover marinade.
  • 5. Serve on buns or rolls with your favorite toppings.
