BAKED KALE CHIPS

These are a low calorie nutritious snack. Like potato chips, you cannot stop at just eating one. They are great for parties and a good conversation topic.

1 bunch kale
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
  • Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

Raw vegan kale chips made with spicy sesame cheese.

Number Of Ingredients 12

4.5 pounds kale
2 cups sesame seeds
2 cups red bell pepper
1 cup water
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/4 cup onion
4 garlic cloves
2 serrano peppers
1 lemon; juiced
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp peppercorn

Steps:

  • Rip kale off of stalks, try to leave the leaf as whole as possible.
  • Blend the sesame seeds until it becomes flour.
  • Add in the rest of cheese ingredients and blend until smooth. You may have to stir and scrape the side of the blender intermittently.
  • Massage the cheese into the kale.
  • Pour the bowl of cheesy kale across two ventilated dehydrated sheets.
  • Dehydrate at 115F degrees until thoroughly dry, approximately 12 hours.

8 cups kale (stems removed, chopped, washed and spin till almost dry)
2 tablespoons walnut oil or 2 tablespoons olive oil
3 -4 garlic cloves, very thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon sea salt, adding more if not using cheese
1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (optional)
1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
1/2 teaspoon poppy seed (optional)
1/4 teaspoon celery seed (optional)
1/2 teaspoon chives, chopped (optional)
1/8 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon thyme (or herbs of choice)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 and place rack on lower level in oven.
  • Mix the optional dry ingredients together. Mix and match to your likings or use all of them.
  • Toss the kale, garlic with oil to coat then sprinkle dry ingredients over to coat evenly.
  • Spread onto a baking sheet, and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until crispy and brown around the edges. Stirring 1/2 way through. If not crispy cook 5 more minutes till edges are lightly browned.

1 small bunch kale (about 1/2 pound)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray two baking trays with cooking spray. Remove the center rib and stems from each kale leaf and discard. Tear or cut the leaves into bite-size pieces, about 2 to 3 inches wide. Wash the kale and dry it very well.
  • 2. Place the kale in a large bowl. Drizzle with the oil and sprinkle with the garlic powder and salt, and massage the oil and seasonings into the kale with your hands to distribute evenly. Place the kale in a single layer on the baking sheets, and bake until crisp and the edges are slightly browned, 12 to 15 minutes.
