Spicy Sausage Fettuccine image

This spicy sausage fettuccine is a pasta dish full of delicious Italian flavors of marinara sauce, hot Italian sausage, garlic, basil, and Parmesan cheese. Sausage and spices are added to store-bought tomato sauce a semi-homemade shortcut. Perfect for weeknights!

1 tbsp olive oil
One-half of an onion, (chopped)
3 hot Italian sausages, (casings removed)
2 cups tomato sauce
1 - 2 tsp minced garlic
1 lb. fettuccine ((16 oz))
6-8 basil leaves (chopped)
Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan set over medium heat. Once oil is heated, add onion and saute for 4-5 minutes or until it begins to brown. Remove casing from sausages and add sausage to pan with the oil. Break up sausage into smaller pieces. Let sausage cook until it has browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  • Add tomato sauce and garlic to pan with the sausage and stir to combine everything. Reduce heat to medium-low and let sauce heat, stirring occasionally.
  • As sauce is heating, bring a large pot of water to a boil, then add a pinch of salt and pasta. Let pasta cook for about 12 minutes, or until it's reached your preferred doneness. Drain pasta and return it to the pot. Pour in sauce and stir to combine. Stir in chopped basil leaves. Serve with Parmesan cheese over top.

The kind that can be whipped up in thirty minutes or less from start to finish and only mess up one dish. And of course, they need to knock-my-socks-off with flavor as well! I am so in love with this spicy, creamy, cheesy pasta for all of those reasons. It is just packed with so many incredible flavors. This came from Kevin & Amanda. When I made this recipe I made minor changes to the recipe. I used vegetable oil, mozzarella flavored sausages, half & half, and cheddar cheese. Next time I plan to not use Rotel as this was a bit to spicy for my families taste.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb smoked sausage
1 1/2 cups diced onions
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 (10 ounce) can ro-tel tomatoes and green chilies, Mild
1/2 cup heavy cream
8 ounces penne pasta
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper, each
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
1/3 cup thinly sliced scallion

Steps:

  • Add olive oil to an oven-safe skillet over medium high heat until just smoking. Add sausage and onions and cook until lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Add broth, tomatoes, cream, pasta, salt and pepper and stir. Bring to a boil, cover skillet, and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Remove skillet from heat and stir in 1/2 cup cheese. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with scallions. Broil until cheese is melted, spotty brown, and bubbly.

Spicy Italian sausage and sweet fennel are smothered in a delicious crushed tomato-basil sauce. Top the fettuccine, and bring on the Parmesan!

8 oz uncooked fettuccine
1/2 lb bulk spicy Italian pork sausage
2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
1 medium sweet onion, cut into thin wedges
1 medium fennel bulb, cut into thin wedges
1 medium yellow or red bell pepper, cut into thin strips
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (28 oz) Muir Glen™ organic crushed tomatoes with basil, undrained
1/2 cup shredded fresh Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Cook and drain pasta as directed on box. Return to saucepan; keep warm.
  • Meanwhile, in 12-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, until no longer pink. Drain; remove sausage from skillet.
  • In same skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook onion, fennel, bell pepper and garlic in oil 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  • Add tomatoes and cooked sausage to vegetables. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Stir in pasta; heat until hot. Sprinkle individual servings with cheese.

1 lb spicy italian sausage, casing removed
1 lb broccoli florets
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 lb rigatoni
4 cups chicken stock
½ cup grated parmesan cheese, plus more garnish

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking up with a wooden spoon, about 8 minutes.
  • Add the broccoli, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper and stir to combine.
  • Add the pasta and chicken stock and bring to a boil. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring constantly, until the liquid is absorbed and the pasta is tender. Add the Parmesan and stir to incorporate.
  • Divide the pasta between serving bowls and garnish with more Parmesan.
  • Enjoy!
