BUTTERY GRILLED SHRIMP



Buttery Grilled Shrimp image

This is easy and delicious! These shrimp are great with steak, but for a special occasion, brush the sauce on lobster tails and grill. -Sheryl Shenberger, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 pounds uncooked shrimp (16-20 per pound), peeled and deveined

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients; set aside 1/4 cup. Thread shrimp onto 8 metal or soaked wooden skewers., Grill shrimp, covered, over medium heat 3-5 minutes on each side or until shrimp turn pink, basting occasionally with butter mixture. Remove from grill; brush with reserved butter mixture.

1 teaspoon paprika
¾ teaspoon dried thyme
¾ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
1 ½ pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Combine paprika, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a sealable plastic bag; shake to mix. Add shrimp and shake to coat.
  • Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Cook and stir shrimp in hot oil until they are bright pink on the outside and the meat is no longer transparent in the center, about 4 minutes.

1 lb butter
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons fresh basil, chopped
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1/2 cup black pepper, finely ground
salt
4 lbs raw shrimp in shells

Steps:

  • The shrimp should be of a size to number 30-35 per pound.
  • Melt the Butter in a large deep-sided frying pan or iron skillet over low heat.
  • When melted, raise the heat, and add the remaining ingredients except the shrimp.
  • Cook, stirring often, until browned to a rich mahogany color, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the shrimp, stir- ring and turning to coat well with the seasoned Butter.
  • Cook until the shrimp have turned a rich deep pink, about 10 minutes.Serve the shrimp in their shells, peeling them at the table.

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons purchased Cajun seasoning OR 1 1/2 tablespoons homemade Cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with ½ teaspoon kosher salt, the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder.
  • In your largest skillet* (cast iron or stainless preferred), heat the olive oil on medium high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until just opaque and cooked through, turning them with tongs. Once cooked through, serve immediately.
