Shake and Bake Chicken Wings image

This was the very first recipe I tried using chicken wings, way back in 1973. These are really crispy, flavorful wings. I love almost all chicken wings, but these have the permanent place as my favorites--totally habit forming! Be sure to use the foil lined pans to bake, or you'll lose half the wonderful crispy coating. Cooking time includes marinating time.

1 package shake and bake coating mix for chicken (two pouch size)
3 lbs chicken wings
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup vinegar
2 cloves crushed garlic

Steps:

  • In a large plastic bag measure soy sauce, vinegar, and crushed garlic.
  • Add chicken wings, close bag tightly, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, and up to 8 hours.
  • Remove wings from marinade and coat with the Shake and Bake coating mix.
  • Place on one or two large baking sheets, lined with foil, and sprayed with oil spray (Pam).
  • Be sure not to crowd the wings or they will steam and not get the wonderful crusty coating that these should have.
  • You should leave at least 1/2 inch between each piece on all sides, more if possible.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
  • You might have to peel these off the foil, as they get really crispy; so-o-o worth it!

Sauce:
1(8-oz) container1 (8-oz) container sour cream
1(8-oz) jar1 (8-oz) jar mayonnaise
1(1-oz) package1 (1-oz) package ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix
1/2tsp1/2 tsp ground black pepper
4Tbsp4 Tbsp real bacon bits
1stalk1 stalk celery, finely chopped
Wings:
2424 chicken wings
1tsp1 tsp ground black pepper
1tsp1 tsp celery salt
1(1-oz) package1 (1-oz) package ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix

Steps:

  • To prepare the sauce, place all the ingredients listed above into a small bowl and mix until well incorporated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours, or overnight. To prepare the wings, place the wings, pepper, celery salt, and ranch seasoning in a large plastic bag. Close the bag and shake it really well until all the wings are evenly coated. Refrigerate and marinate overnight, or at least 8 hours. Place the oven rack in the middle and preheat to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease with oil spray. Remove the wings from the plastic bag and place them on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake until cooked through, and the skin is crispy, 40-45 minutes. Let them rest 3-4 minutes. Place the wings into a large bowl and add half the sauce. Toss until evenly coated. Serve with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.

1 pkt. SHAKE 'N BAKE Extra Crispy Seasoned Coating Mix
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 18 strips
2 Tbsp. hot pepper sauce
1/2 cup KRAFT Classic Ranch Dressing

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Add pepper to coating mix in shaker bag; shake gently to combine. Add chicken, a few strips at a time; shake to evenly coat. Place in single layer on baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 15 min. or until chicken is done.
  • Transfer to plate; drizzle with hot sauce. Serve with dressing.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Mix both packets of coating mix and bacon in medium bowl. Beat eggs in pie plate or shallow dish. Place flour in separate pie plate or shallow dish.
  • Coat drumettes, 1 at a time, with flour, then dip in eggs and bacon mixture, turning to evenly coat each drummette with eggs before coating with bacon mixture. Place in single layer on foil-covered baking sheet.
  • Bake 20 min. or until done.

1 Tbsp. GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard
1 pouch SHAKE 'N BAKE Chicken Coating Mix
2 tsp. garlic powder
8 small boneless skinless chicken breasts (2 lb.)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix barbecue sauce and mustard in pie plate or shallow dish; set aside. Mix coating mix and garlic powder in separate pie plate or shallow dish.
  • Dip chicken in barbecue sauce mixture, then in coating mixture, turning over to evenly coat both sides. Place in single layer in foil-lined 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Discard any remaining coating mixture.
  • Bake 20 min. or until chicken is cooked through.

Various seasonings enhance this homemade crumb mixture for coating and baking chicken. Use this like you would use the store-bought stuff. This in just as good, to me and my family!

4 cups dry bread crumbs
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon minced garlic
¼ teaspoon minced onion
1 pinch dried basil leaves
1 pinch dried parsley
1 pinch dried oregano

Steps:

  • In a large resealable plastic bag combine the crumbs, oil, salt, paprika, celery salt, pepper, garlic salt, minced garlic, minced onion, basil, parsley and oregano. Seal bag and shake all ingredients together.
