GARLIC PARMESAN MONKEY BREAD



Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread image

If you like garlic bread you'll love this! This savory version of the classic Monkey Bread is sure to add fun and flavor to any meal.

3 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
3 tablespoons parsley
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
¼ teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons butter, melted
2 eggs
2 (1 pound) loaves frozen bread dough, thawed
½ cup Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Grease a 10 inch Bundt pan or tube pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the green onion, parsley, garlic powder, salt, butter and eggs until well blended. Break the bread dough off in walnut-sized pieces, and dip each piece into the egg mixture.
  • Place coated dough balls into the prepared pan. Once there is a layer of balls covering the bottom of the pan, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Repeat, sprinkling each layer with cheese until everything is in the pan. Cover loosely, and let rise until doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.

This is fast, easy, and looks lovely. Adapted from Southern Living. Makes a good appetizer or dinner roll for a party.

1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 (25 ounce) package frozen white bread rolls dough, unthawed
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted

Steps:

  • Grease a 12-cup size Bundt pan well.
  • Mix together cheese, seeds, and basil and sprinkle just 1/3 of the mixture into your pan.
  • Place half of the frozen rolls into the pan, drizzle with half of the melted butter,then sprinkle half of the remaining cheese mixture over them.
  • Top with the rest of the frozen rolls, butter, and cheese mixture.
  • Spray a piece of plastic wrap lightly with nonstick spray (or use a damp, clean towel) and cover pan.
  • Let rise in a warm place for 2 hours or until doubled in bulk(this will vary greatly based on the temperature of the room it is rising in, especially in cooler months).
  • Remove plastic wrap and bake in a preheated 350 F oven for 20 minutes.
  • Tent with foil to prevent excess browning and bake another 10 minutes.
  • Loosen bread from sides of pan using a knife an invert onto serving plate while still warm.
  • Pluck off individual pieces to eat.

My mom used to make this Bundt® bread for special occasions. She found her recipe and handed it down to me.

cooking spray
1 package active dry yeast
¼ cup warm water
4 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup hot water
½ cup milk
¼ cup salted butter, softened
¼ cup white sugar
1 large egg
1 ½ teaspoons salt
¼ cup salted butter
¼ cup instant minced onion
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon ground paprika
1 teaspoon garlic salt

Steps:

  • Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups flour, hot water, milk, butter, sugar, egg, and salt. Blend on low speed until moist, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in remaining flour by hand until a soft dough forms. Place on the prepared cookie sheet, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Melt butter for filling in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and add onion, Parmesan cheese, sesame seeds, paprika, and garlic salt; mix well.
  • Spray a fluted tube pan (such as Bundt® with cooking spray.
  • Divide dough into golf ball-sized pieces. Place 1 layer of dough pieces in the prepared pan and top with some filling. Continue to later dough and filling until you've used them up. Cover with a piece of plastic wrap that's been sprayed with cooking spray. Let rise in a warm place until light and doubled in size, 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 30 to 35 minutes. Serve warm or cool.

2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
2-1/2 cups water (110° to 115°)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 teaspoons salt
6 to 6-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Cornmeal
1 large egg white
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the sugar, oil, salt and 4 cups of flour; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Divide in half. Roll each half into a 15x10-in. rectangle. Roll up from a long side; seal well. Place with seam side down on greased baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal. , Beat egg white and water; brush over loaves. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cover with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray; let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes. , With a sharp knife, make 4 shallow diagonal cuts across top.   • In a gallon sized plastic bag, combine the granulated sugar with the cinnamon. Separate the dough into biscuits. Cut each biscuit into quarters. Add the quartered biscuits to the bag with the cinnamon sugar. Shake to coat biscuits in the cinnamon sugar.
  • Layer the biscuits into the prepared baking pan. Combine the melted butter and brown sugar in a separate bowl. Pour mixture over the biscuits.
  • Bake for 35 - 45 minutes or until the top of the monkey bread is golden brown. Remove and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Turn the bread out of the bundt pan onto a heat proof plate. Serve warm.
