1 1/2 lbs lean stewing beef
1 tablespoon cooking oil
2 medium yellow squash, halved lengthwise and cut into 1/2 inch slices
2 large carrots, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 teaspoon dried thyme
3/4 teaspoon dried basil
6 cups beef broth
1/4 cup dry red wine or 1/4 cup white wine
2 cups chopped fresh spinach
1/2 cup quick-cooking white rice

Steps:

  • In a frypan, let the oil get hot; cook meat (in batches if necessry) until browned on all sides; drain off fat.
  • Add to a 4-6 quart slow-cooker: squash, carrots, onions, garlic, thyme, and basil.
  • Place meat on top of vegetables.
  • Pour in broth and wine Cover and cook on LOW for 7-10 hours.
  • Add in spinach and rice; cover and cook 5-10 minutes or until rice is tender.

1 1/2 cups long grain rice (2 rice cooker cups)
10 cups water
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
2 lbs beef, cubed

Steps:

  • Add the rice, water, parsley, chives, rosemary, and pepper to a 10 cup or larger rice cooker.
  • For a simple rice cooker, turn it on. For a fancy (fuzzy logic) rice cooker, set the rice cooker to the quick cook setting and start.
  • Cover and allow to come to a simmer.
  • Add the beef and cinnamon, cover again, and allow to cook for 60 minutes.

Have a new pressure cooker and no recipe so this is what I put together. Similar to others but not exactly the same. I think it needs more tomato taste. Use a 5 quart electric pressure cooker

1/2 lb of beef stew meat
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
3 1/2 cups water, divided
4 cups frozen mixed vegetables
1 medium russet potato, peeled and cubed
1 medium onion, chopped
2 celery ribs, chopped
2/3 cup Minute Rice

Steps:

  • in the electric pressure cooker -- following cooker instructions brown the meat in hot oil for 2-3 minutes.
  • add the salt, pepper, basil, tomatoes, worchestershire, 1/2 cup water.
  • cook on high pressure for 12 minutes.
  • release pressure using quick release method.
  • add all the vegetables, rice and three cups of water.
  • cook on high pressure for 12 more minutes.
  • let pressure cooker cool and the pressure release on it's own.
  • ready to serve.
