Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups water
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/3 cup lime or lemon juice
1 teaspoon anise extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 oranges, peeled and sectioned
3 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
2 grapefruit, peeled and sectioned
2 large apples, cubed
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 pound green grapes
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, lime juice, anise and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; cover and refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight. , Combine fruit in a large bowl; add dressing and toss to coat. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.

8 cups fresh melon cubes
1 to 2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 pint fresh strawberries, halved
2 cups fresh pineapple chunks
2 oranges, sectioned
Fresh mint leaves, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine melon cubes and corn syrup. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, stir in remaining fruit. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Toss together your favorite fruits for this delightful medley dressed with a pleasant anise-laced syrup. 'This dish always goes over well,' writes Alberta McKay of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

2 cups water
1 ¼ cups sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons anise seed
½ teaspoon salt
12 cups assorted fresh fruit

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, lemon juice, aniseed and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Strain syrup; discard aniseed. Place fruit in a large bowl; add syrup and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Serve with a slotted spoon.

2 tablespoons anise seeds
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 (15 1/4 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained
1/2 cantaloupe, made into balls
1/2 honeydew melon, made into balls
1 cup red grapes or 1 cup green grape
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained

Steps:

  • Place anice seed in the center of an 8 inch piece of cheese cloth.
  • Bring edges together, tie with string.
  • for marinate, in a small sauce pan, combine the anise seed bag, water, sugar and lemon juice.
  • Bring to a boiling point stirring til dissolves.
  • Cook uncovered, over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until golden and the consistency of thin syrup (should have about 1 cup of syrup) Do Not Remove bag.
  • Cool syrup slightly.
  • Pour over prepared friit.
  • Toss lightly til fruit is coated.
  • Marinate in Frig several hours or over night.
  • Remove bag and serve.
