1-2 Tbsp gluten-free tamari ((if not gluten-free sub soy sauce // if soy-free sub coconut aminos*))
1-2 Tbsp maple syrup ((or other sweetener of choice))
1 tsp chili garlic sauce ((or 1 red Thai chili, minced // or 1/4 tsp red pepper flake // adjust to preferred spice level))
2-3 Tbsp lime juice
~1/4 cup water ((to thin))

Steps:

  • To a medium mixing bowl add (starting with the amount at the lower end of the measurement range where applicable) peanut butter, tamari (or soy sauce or coconut aminos), maple syrup, lime juice, chili sauce (or chili or red pepper), and whisk to combine. Add water a little at a time until a thick but pourable sauce is achieved.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more maple syrup for sweetness, chili garlic sauce (or red chili or red pepper) for heat, lime juice for acidity, or tamari for saltiness. If your sauce has become too thin, add more nut butter. If it's too thick, thin with more water. For a fun flavor twist, add some fresh grated ginger to taste.
  • Perfect for salads, spring rolls, noodle dishes, and more! Pairings linked above. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

This is my favorite peanut sauce recipe. It is made with just 6 key ingredients, and it is a great dipping sauce or dressing for salads.

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup filtered water
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce (use tamari if gluten free)
1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, use a fork or whisk to mix all the ingredients together. The peanut butter will be quite stiff at the beginning, but do not worry. Just keep working it into the liquids. In a few minutes, the sauce will reach a creamy consistency.
  • Use the peanut sauce as a dip for appetizers, a salad dressing, or a sauce for noodles! Refrigerate any leftover peanut sauce for up to a week.

1/4 cup fresh lime juice (from 2 limes)
1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together peanut butter and water until smooth. Whisk in lime juice, soy sauce, and sugar. Sprinkle peanuts over sauce just before serving.

3/4 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine ingredients; cook over medium heat, stirring, until melted and incorporated, about 4 minutes. Continue cooking until sauce is smooth and sugar has dissolved; remove from heat. Avoid cooking too long or sauce will become very thick. Cool sauce slightly before using, or store, covered, in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Before serving, reheat in a saucepan; thin, if necessary, by adding up to 2 tablespoons cream.

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix the peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk in a small saucepan over low heat. Gradually stir in the butter. Continue to cook, stirring, until the sauce is smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
  • Let the sauce cool; it will start to thicken as it cools. When ready to serve, heat the sauce in the microwave for a few seconds so it is easy to drizzle on top of your dessert of choice.
