PAPA TRAVIS' HOT DOG CHILI

This recipe came from Dorn's Ice Cream Parlor from back in the 1930's. It is still used today in McCormick, SC at a little cafe, where it was originated. They even sell it by the quart, if you want to take it home with you. Every time I've made it, everyone raves. Enjoy!!

Number Of Ingredients 11

Ingredients

1 lb hambuger
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper
1/2 stick butter (optional)
8 oz bottle of ketchup
2 tsp chili powder
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 medium onion chopped

Steps:

1. In a medium size saucepan brown beef with onions in small amount of water. Add other ingredients and cook on medium until it comes to a boil. Simmer on low for 20 to 30 minutes

This is a delicious and simple to make chili that my dad has been making for years. My boys love it and it is not to spicy. If you like a more spicy Chili try using the regular Chili Seasoning. You can use any kind of beans you want and any kind of cheese to change it up too.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef, Browned
2 pacakges mccormick's mild chili seasoning mix
5 (15 1/2 ounce) kidney beans, drained
2 (29 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, drained
1 lb cheddar cheese (cubed or shredded)

Steps:

Place Ground Beef, Chili Mix, Kidney Beans and Tomato Sauce in a large 6 quart Crockpot and stir well. This makes a FULL POT so be careful!
Cook on low until hot and bubbly about 5 - 6 hours.
Add the Cheese and allow it to simmer on low for another half hour.
Serve with crackers or chips and enjoy!

A New Mexican favorite meatless dish often eaten during Lent when traditional Catholics abstained from meat dishes. Quoted from the Bueno foods website. Another delicious chile - red or green! NOTE recipe calls for Bueno frozen red chile, but Zaar does not recognize this. Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 small potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 (14 ounce) container bueno frozen red chili peppers
3 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon oregano, crushed

Steps:

Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Fry potatoes in oil, stirring frequently, until golden.
Add red chile and garlic; Blend well.
Pour in water, add salt and oregano then bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Enjoy! ;).

Heat oil in pan, peel and slice potatoes.
Add potatoes to pan; cover and cook on medium till done, about 10 minutes.
Add diced chilies; stir.
Serve warm.
