  • Have They Got a Bed? The first thing, and probably the most important thing to take care of, is that your villagers have enough beds. For example, if you have 10 villagers in the same place but only one bed, there is literally zero chance that they will breed.
  • Have They Got Proper Food? The list of needs doesn’t end with just having enough beds to go around. You also need to make sure that you have enough basic resources to keep your villagers happy.
  • Have They Got a Little Privacy? Okay, we admit that this suggestion can sound a little strange, but it does have an effect on whether your villagers breed or not.
  • Are They in Mating Mode? And now we get to the most important part of the whole process – whether or not your villagers are in “mating mode.” If you haven’t seen what mating mode looks like before, the signs are pretty clear.
  • Do They Have Willingness? For those of you who have been playing Minecraft for a while, you might not even be aware of this condition yet. The reason for this is that “willingness” is a relatively new update.

5 REASONS WHY YOUR MINECRAFT VILLAGERS ARE NOT BREEDING

  • No unclaimed beds. Beds are very much a necessity when breeding Villagers. As Minecraft players know, these civilized mobs have a set routine and connect themselves to a bed so that they can sleep at night.
  • Less food items. Unlike other breedable mobs that only take one food item to enter "love mode," Villagers take multiple. Essentially, their own inventory should have 12 food items for them to enter their very own "willing mode."
  • Breeding cooldown. In order to prevent players from spamming the breeding process, the game has a cooldown timer applied to each Villager after a successful breed.
  • Population Cap (Bedrock Edition only) In Bedrock Edition, there can only be a certain number of Villagers in a particular village. After that population cap has been reached, the mobs will no longer breed with each other.
  • Wrong time of day. One reason why Villagers are not breeding can related to the day's time. When players first meet these mobs, they will notice how they follow a set routine based on the day-night cycle in the game.
